Everyone in your family gets something good to eat at a reasonable price. Parking in the rear of the restaurant is safe.

I have always enjoyed the food at Chimes, but the management and service there could use some serious improvement. My story goes like this, my girlfriend has a nut allergy and they fry everything in peanut oil. because of this we inquire about substituting grilled veggies for the fries on one of their pricey (IMHO) platters. Their response was not without an up charge/no substitutions. There are too many great restaurants in Baton Rouge to deal with the insensitive management/servers for overpriced food.

We visited mid-afternoon on a Saturday and sat at the bar. The Shrimp and Corn Soup was wonderful! We each had a burger and they were perfectly cooked. We chose our beers from www.beermenus.com so everything listed was in stock. The only drawback to the visit was inattentive service. The bartender and server ignored us for long stretches and we had to flag someone down to get our ticket. A more visible spot might have saved us from this.

The Chimes East is a fun place to have lunch or dinner. It is noisy so it's not the right spot if you are looking for a quiet place. However, the food is always good. They always have several lunch specials for about $10. Portions are generous. They have a patio if you want to sit outside and eat when the weather is nice. The only drawback to me is that all of their entrees usually have some kind of cream-based sauce on them, and I try to avoid those extra calories. However, they are always very nice about putting sauces on the side or whatever you want to do so it's not really a problem. The salads are huge and always fresh. Onion rings and fried crab claws are great appetizers and probably their most popular.

We did not have an enjoyable experience here. The service was terrible. Food was not hot, we didn't get our dinners all at once, and then it was not made correctly. The server didn't seem to care. I certainly would not recogmend the place
