Description: Wallace Station, just outside Midway in the heart of Bluegrass horse country and on the Kentucky Bourbon Trail, is a scenic stop for homemade sandwiches, soups, salads, an irresistable bakery case, and breakfast.

Wallace Station is located on Old Frankfort Pike, sometimes called Shady Lane, and it is definitely one of the most beautiful drives in the country with gorgeous horse farms on either side of a tree and stone fenced two-lane road. On a pretty day, it's a go-to place. I say "a pretty day" because the drive and the outdoor experience make the effort worth it. Going there on off-hours will keep you from standing in line. You go in an old wooden building, stand in line where you give your order, pay for it, and give your name, go get your drink and sit down wherever you choose (on a pretty day, go to the deck outside). They call your name and bring your order to your table, outside or inside. There is nothing pretentious about it. The sandwiches/salads/burgers run around $8.00. The portions are ample and I usually need a go-box to take home.

We went on fried chicken night and have heard about how good the chicken was... It was okay, nothing to write home about. I will go back but I will get one of those awesome sandwiches they have or the burgers! The staff was great, didnt bother you much and got the food out in a decent amount of time.

Excellent food with a unique atmosphere. Glad it was sunny outside as there were lots of tables to be had in the shade. The food portions were plentiful and the taste was perfect. Go on a nice day as there wasn't a whole lot of seating on the inside.

Setting: delightful! Perfectly wonderful drive through horse country to a charming old restaurant with oodles of retro charm.

Dress: whatever you have on your body. Shorts are perfect.

Service: friendly young staff who aim to please. Our booth wasn't cleared so we ate next to stuff left from the previous guests and my husband almost drank out of a deserted beer bottle but they were busyish and we survived.

Food: way better than expected. Delicious sandwiches. Bakery bread. Rich ingredients. Plain wavy Lays chips.

Best part: amazing gluten free bread!

Located in the middle of horse country they have the best burgers, sandwiches & salads. I had Wallace's Cubano today and it was a magical sandwich. The pulled pork, Swiss cheese, mustard, ham & special pickles all came together to make it one of the best things I have ever eaten (& I have eaten at some of the best restaurants from Maui, Pebble Beach, all across the east coast & down through Florida). Miss this place and you are just doing your taste buds an disservice.
