We stayed here while on the Bourbon Trail. The house is charming and the rooms are nice and cozy. In fact, the room was much nicer than I expected. The high points of this inn are the restaurant and bar. The menu showcases local cuisine and is expertly prepared. The bar is stocked with bourbons and the bartender will let you sample them along with a description and explanation of their differences.

This is the first place we stayed while doing the Kentucky Bourbon Trail last week. Arrived on Sunday to find a bored Santa sitting in the common room with a photographer. There was some kind of special weekend downtown fest going on. Our rooms were nice, clean, and comfortable. However we couldn't regulate the heat and our room stayed stuffy even with the window partially open. Breakfast was just okay.

Room Tip: Be sure you don't get a room over the bar.

We were hosted at The Woodford Inn one November evening as a stop on our Kentucky Bourbon Trail tour. Located close to the Woodford Distillery, we originally made the arrangements out of convienence more than atmosphere. What we arrived to was nothing short of an unexpected delight. The bar at the inn appears to be a local meet-up of the residents of Versailles. Live acoustics kept us entertained. For those that enjoy great food, good conversation with friendly locals and very reasonably priced drinks, this is your place. The setting is picturesque and the interior is cozy and polished. Not to mention clean. Our room satisfied our needs (a clean bathroom and bed in well dressed southern decor) - but it was the local social that truly impressed. Oh - and the breakfast was top knotch.

We had occasion to stay here on a cross-country trip, and wanted to stay near friends, and made Versailles a way-point for that reason. This was basically the only option. At first glance, the place is wonderful, but it appeared that our room was set up for one person, not a couple. There were things that were broken, and had not been repaired. The coffee maker in the room had not been cleaned. We did enjoy our meal in the bar downstairs, though. The bartender was really great! Overall, the place was nice enough, but overpriced for what you got.

First of all I want to compliment the staff. Everyone that my wife and I came in contact with were pleasant, and helpful. Tim and Bill were two of the most enjoyable bartenders I have met. The room we stayed in was clean and comfortable. The bathroom was clean and functioned properly. The Inn is in a good location, being off the main road but within walking distance of downtown Versailles....a couple hundred feet. The breakfasts were wonderful, but limited. The morning staff were more than happy to adjust the breakfast to meet personal needs. Our dinners we had the three nights we stayed were high quality in flavor and portion, and also comfortably priced. The one morning they made a vegetarian quiche ahead of time just for my wife.......and we never asked. Yes the front porch is a great place to sit and relax. I wish the bar was open earlier in the afternoon, just in case of bad weather. I really enjoyed talking with the big boss Bruce. Not to often do you run into a person in his position who is so approachable and friendly, very hands on. I would highly recommend the Woodford Inn for people who normally stay at Inns, and for ones who have not. Their atmosphere is much better than a large hotel. Thank you all for a wonderful stay, and thank you Bruce for that wonderful treat from the top shelf.
