The Hampton is a great add to the "City that Moves Mountains". Conveniently located accross the street from University of Pikeville and an adjacent free parking structure. Walking distance to downtown attractions and some of the Hatfield / McCoy sites.

A relatively new property the facilities function and overall the property looks in very good functioning shape. The room is more spacious than the older-format Hampton-Inn's; simple yet functional. TV offers basic cable service including HBO; if staying long bring your own entertainment or on-demand it through your cable provider. Internet service works well off peak hours, but for some reason would not allow to VPN into work.

During my stay, the smoke detectors in the 6th floor were all covered with blue masking tape for no apparent reason.

Other than that, great Southern hospitality, ample breakfast/dining area and sufficient/clean supplies.

Room Tip: Check your room before settling in, make sure all is in working order (inclusive of remote control batteries) and if you need go back to the front desk and ask to be moved. Street front rooms have a view of the hill and college, some rooms in the back have the view blocked by the parking structure.

I spend 2-4 weeks in this hotel each year. One of the nicest Hamtpons I've been to. The lobby is nice and the rooms are clean and new. Parking is in a garage, which is nice; however, the college kids share it and they can drive quite quickly and dangerously. BE CAREFUL when driving and walking in the garage.

We went Pikeville for two reasons, my wife is an origenal McCoy and to see the fall leafs. we even stayed an extra night because the wife enjoy seeing her heritage and even found her great, great, great grandfathers grave sight. The hampton Inn was a very nice place we had a suite on the sixth floor, clean and well kept. Breakfest was better than usual and very clean. The pool and hot tub were super, nice and warm and very clean also. NOTE there is construction of a new Hilton Inn going on Next door, but as we were there on the weekend it did bother us, was a nice trip and great stay

Room Tip: For now stay on the end near the parking ramp, away from construction

The Hampton Inn in Pikeville, KY balances old school southern hospitality with all the contemporary amenities of modern living.

Nestled in a mountain college town in an area steeped in rich history the hotel is a welcoming retreat after a long day of work or sightseeing.

The rooms are kept fresh and clean and the staff are friendly and welcoming.

The decor is modern and bright and the hotel features the "On the House" hot breakfast bar, a free and filling way to start the day.

The price is in the mid range and affords you access to a fitness and business center, indoor pool, 24 hour coffee service, and plenty of free parking.

If visiting Pikeville, KY, the local Hampton Inn is the way to go.

Very nice 7 story hotel (though Hilton Hotels describes it as rural). In the heart of the small town you can walk to different places, visitors center is in the hotel, free parking garage. Indoor pool and hot tub. Standard Hampton Inn breakfast which is good. Friendly staff. Used this hotel to go the Breaks Interstate Park and the Hatfield and the McCoys driving tour (which you could get information on at the visitors center) Overall nice hotel newer, in a great location across from U of Pikeville. From what I saw of the town and area this the best hotel for miles and miles around.
