El Chicos of today is different from El Chicos of ten years ago. They no longer have those wonderful refried beans....what a shame! However
very thing else was great! My wife especially loved their nacho dip. Try their tortilla soup....very different, and great. And the service was exceptional.

The bottom line is... the food was wonderful!

Had a few issues before we got to that though. First, when we got there, we thought it was closed because NO lights were on outside at - no lit sign, no parking lot lights - just darkness. However, when we looked closer, there were cars in the parking lot & we could barely see lights on inside. So, we went in.

After ordering, it took about 30 minutes and two bowls of chips & dips later to get our food. When it came, they had to fix part of it, but left the rest for us to eat. We ordered the chicken, steak & shrimp fajitas, and I wanted the bell peppers sauted brown -when it came, they weren't even cooked. HOWEVER, they sauted some and brought them out afterwards, and they were AMAZING! (The cheese dip with the chips is fantastic too.) The fajitas were some of the best we've had - yes, there were issues, but they solved them all. We will DEFINITELY be going back!

When we travel, we always jump at the chance to eat an El Chico chain especially since one of their restaurants closed in our area. Before it closed, our local El Chico's was one of our
favorite spots to eat; however, this location in Paducah was a disappointment. The restaurant seemed dated and worn. Service was just average with some undue delays especially in receiving and processing our check after the meal. One reason for this was that our server was loaded down with several additional tables including a large party after we were seated. Seemed like they were spreading their serving staff too thin. The real difference we saw from what we expected was the sub-par quality of the food received ... did not taste fresh (my chimichanga tasted like it had been prepared days ahead of time, frozen, thawed, and then cooked). Overall, this lunch was not what we expected from the El Chico chain and resulted in us being disappointed.

We enjoyed our meal at El Chico and will return again. I like that they give you warm cheese sauce, as well as the usual salsa, to dip your tacos in! Our lunch service was good and the food was just what we expected.
