Whitehaven is georgeous. I remember going as a kid when they were still restoring it. They did a wonderful job.

A lovely way to take a break from the car and relax the mind.
The mansion tour is free and took less than 15 minutes.
There is an elevator available. Adele was a great tour guide.
You may have to wait a few minutes for the tour to start.

Alben W. Barkley served as vice-president under President Harry S. Truman. Mr. Barkley's office is included in the tour.

The women's restroom counter top had beautiful fresh flowers.

Love stopping at Whitehaven. The only thing that detracts is the location--it is on a very busy section of the interstate, and that kind of kills the quaintness. But you can't beat getting to visit an historic house for free. It is a gem. Make sure you take lots of photos, it is impossible to take a bad picture of the house, and it makes a terrific backdrop for portraits.

Want to see how the rich lived in the 1800's? Tour Whitehaven for a first rate look. AND it's a state operated rest stop.
