My wife and I went to see my wife's sister at Yalden and for lunch we went to the Hop Pole Inn at Nettlestead. There is ample car parking, but be careful when exiting, as a hedge blocks your view of the road to the right. The pub is near a bend in the road and vehicles seem to shoot by at speed. The pub has an extension that acts as a dining area, though meals can be eaten any where in the pub. The staff are extremely friendly. My wife and her sister ordered the cavery. It consisted of Gammon, Turkey and Beef, Roast Potatoes, and Veg. I ordered a home made Fish Pie with veg. My wife and sister said the meat was cooked to perfection as were the roast potatoes and veg. In fact they said it was the best cavery they have ever had. My Fish Pie was home made by the owner of the pub who was also the chef. It was superb. For dessert we had Banoffe Pie and Bread and Butter pudding. Gorgeous. As I was the driver, I had coffee and the girls has Coke and a bitter shandy. The service was excellent and the bill was not expensive. If I am in the area , I would certainly go there again. The food here is well recommended. Well done and thank you for a wonderful meal.
