“This Hotel Needs Managemnt's Attention”
Reviewed May 9, 2013

This hotel is just across the Interstate from the airport thus it is a very convenient location if coming in at the airport. Upon entering the parking lot and entrance area one might notice the parking area needed some paper and trash pickup. We were met by a 10-12 year old boy on a skate board, that wanted to know if we needed any help with our baggage. He apparently lives at the hotel, I assume with his family. The reception area gives the impression of disorganization and was not well organized. It was late in the day however the floor could have stood some cleaning. The check in was courteous and accurate. We immediately went to our second floor suite.

The elevator floor needed a quick vacuum. The room was very good although somewhat sparse and not that much in quality decorations. We have noticed that the Residence Inn brand does not appear to have put a lot of thought into building construction or room decorations. The bed was a medium softness and we would have prepared a hard mattress. Since we have a two bedroom suite we had two of everything from beds to bathrooms. Everything worked and the room was much cleaner that the areas we had just left. Let’s chalk those areas up to it being late in the day and lots of customer had come in.

We don’t often get a fireplace in a hotel room and unfortunately since it was spring time we could not use the fireplace. What a bummer!

The breakfast the next morning was very good. There was available both the USA Today and the Louisville Courier Journal. This we like! We arrived just 10 minutes after opening and there were already a dozen men in the place. There were scrambled eggs and Canadian bacon, waffles and oatmeal. The bacon was cold. There were plenty of breads and sweets, plus juice and coffee. The fresh fruit was on the small side.

We noticed two employees talking in the kitchen area. We ate breakfast and they never once came out to check on the food however they were still standing in the kitchen area talking as we left.

Bottom line is that this could be a nice hotel if management would pay a little attention to some of the details like the cleanliness and the breakfast area. Bedroom housekeeping seems to be the really plus area for this location. Lastly, if you need to find a place to eat dinner close by forget it. You are going to have to drive a little distance.Close by are industrial site, hotels and the state fair grounds. While I have given this location 4 stars, those are conditional upon the hotel management getting the necessary cleaning down. Otherwise this is a three star property. The reception area just gives a first impression that is hard to forget.Thank goodness it did not prevail in the bedrooms. Just tidy up your reception area including behind the desk to make this look like a professionally managed hotel.

Dear Texas Willie,
Thank you for taking the time to write this review and give us your feedback. We always want to hear when our guests enjoy their stay and we also want to know when we are falling short of our guest's expectations or where we need to improve. I am glad you enjoyed the breakfast and that the fireplace was a pleasant surprise, even if it was springtime. We will be upgrading our lobby in a few short months so I hope you will stay with us agin in the future to see our new lobby and have a much better experience overall.

Sincerely,
Lynn Manning

This hotel has several redeeming qualities - but the employees stand out. The airline lost my husband's bag - along with his phone charger - and Pauline was kind enough to loan him her PERSONAL charger without hesitation. All of the front desk employees are courteous, accommodating and polite. Their positive "can do" attitudes definitely made our stay a good one.

The rooms are spacious and clean, and the full-size refrigerator with freezer is a wonderful amenity. It was also great to have a toaster, microwave and garbage disposal. (But a tip to future travelers: don't run the disposal late at night; it's incredibly loud.)

The bathroom vanity and general bathroom decor look a bit dated - but everything is in good shape and kept very clean, so it's not a big concern to this traveler.

Morning breakfast includes hot items like scrambled eggs, sausage and waffles - along with yogurt, muffins, bagels, fruit and beverages. This property offers a larger spread than most long-term-stay hotels I've experienced.

Dear Bradynut,
Thank you very much for the feedback regarding your stay. I will be sure to let Pauline know how much it helped her offering her charger to you. We do pride ourselves on our service, and I am glad she helped without hesitation. We are getting renovated this fall, so I hope you will stay with us again while in Louisville and see our new updated bathrooms and entire hotel.

I have stayed here several times with large groups due to its proximity to the Expo center. The service has always been really good, and the quality of the rooms and food are very good also. Being able to walk to the Expo center is a big plus.

One helpful thing would be for them to more clearly mark the building numbers from the outside. The location is very close to 264 with easy exit and entrance to the Interstate. I will continue to come back to this facility.

Room Tip: Try and stay in the main building if possible, that is where breakfast is served, and there is a nic...

We arrived late on a rainy evening. The lighting in the parking lot was poor and we had a difficult time finding the front office. The facility is divided between two buildings which was very inconvenient for our group of three different families. I spoke to the front desk to try to get all the rooms at least in the same building, but because we arrived so late, there was nothing that could be done. Front desk staff was friendly.

Other than that disappointment, the facility is clean and well maintained. We had no issues with airport traffic and the hotel's proximity to the KY Expo Center is convenient. Now that I know where the lobby is located, this hotel will be one of my "go to" locations during cattle shows held at the Expo Center.

Room Tip: First floor rooms not subject to airport traffic.

Dear Legal Eagle,

Thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback. I am glad to hear that our hotel is a great fit for you during the cattle shows. We hope you will choose to stay with us again next year. Please have each person in your party request the main building at the time of making their reservations. This will help us the morning of your arrival and we should be able to get your group closer together (and keep you dry :) ) and it won't matter how late you arrive.
Hopefully we will see you again next March for the show.
Sincerely,
Lynn Manning

We stayed in a 2 bedroom, 2 bath suite with the kitchen and common area for 3 nights. The room was very nice and comfortable. It was very clean as well since I know this hotel allows pets. We were on the top floor so we could hear some airport traffic late at night but it was tolerable (if you are a light sleeper you may want to ask for a room on a lower floor). The breakfast (eggs, sausage, ham, yogurt, cereal, fruit, waffles) was great and different each morning. The staff was very friendly and accomodating. We stayed here while attending a convention at the Expo Center. They had a shuttle which we used a few times but it also wasn't far to drive (just down the street). If we are in the area, we will definitely stay here again.

The night Auditor Jessica is some one you have to meet if you stay here. She is calm, informative, comfortable at her job and has a great smile. She works all night so you have to stay up late or get up early to see her. This is a great property to stay at when you are going to the Expo center. It is right around the corner and the drive is no problem. The breakfast is amazing and very clean. Be prepared to drive if you decide you would like to go out for dinner, but you have a kitchenette in the rooms why go out! The hallways are kept very warm during the winter which keeps the room warm as well. If you are a cold lover like me be prepared to crank the A/C.

Just visited the Residence Inn at the Louisville Airport. Very typical Residence Inn. Did not have any issues with airport noise that was reported in other reviews.

The place was almost empty on a Saturday night. Breakfast was good. Eggs, sausage and gravy, biscuits, waffles, fruit, muffins, and fruit. Pretty normal.

If staying close to the Louisville airport and looking for a clean hotel with a little more room than a standard size room, this is your place.

Also, very close to Freedom Hall and Six Flags Park.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the airport.

Dear Gogolf14,

Thank you for taking the time to write a review about our hotel. I was glad to read that you and your family were able to enjoy the larger room and the many items we offer for breakfast. Sometimes it is quiet here on the weekends, especially in January. I hope you will decide to stay with us again when in the Louisville area.

Sincerely,
