Louisville has an assortment of great breakfast establishments and Toast on Market definitely needs to be included in the elite.
First there is the location which is toward the east end of Market St and in a neighborhood that is trying to revitalize itself through hip/eclectic shops like Scout and restaurants like the Mayan Cafe. There is a trolley stop right out in front of it which is how we got from downtown to Scout for a Saturday brunch.
The seating area is not that large so a wait should be expected, we were told a 25-30 min wait but a table for 2 came available and we were the only couples there waiting. In the spring/summer/fall it appears that they have a seating area outside that could either accommodate waiting patrons or possibly more tables.
Finally the food, the key element, was superb. The wife was not feeling well so she went basic with just bacon and eggs but the hash brown casserole is possibly the best thing we had to eat the entire weekend. I enjoyed the bacon egg and cheese sandwich which had a unique spin with a dijon vinnegrette the bacon and eggs were tossed in.
The service was great and the atmosphere laid back so I would definitely recommend this place to anyone and everyone.
