The Brown Hotel has very friendly staff right from the front door to the cleaning crews. Clean and well appointed rooms. Beautiful decor brings out the hotel's history. Club floor lounge was fantastic with complimentary drinks (beer and wine) and appetizers from 5-7pm.

This hotel helped to make our anniversary vacation a special one. The rooms were excellent and the staff were even better. Brandon the English Grille manager and Amanda at the front desk were especially key. Victoria and Nicole (waitresses) helped to make our dining experience pleasurable. Also, Wilma(housekeeper) and the kind young lady in the gift shop deserve honorable mention. Although we did not see them often, the valet staff were friendly and prompt. The cost was a bit more but my wife and I agree that it was more than well worth it. The next time we are visiting Kentucky, the Brown Hotel will be our only choice.

Room Tip: If you can splurge (we use our anniversary as our splurge), we recommend getting a room on one of th...

We stayed at the Brown Hotel on our wedding night. It's in a beautiful, historic building in downtown Louisville. The beginning of the movie, Elizabethtown, is set here. The rooms are large for an older hotel, and the staff is friendly and helpful. The location is great, very close to the downtown museums, waterfront park, Louisville Slugger factory, urban bourbon trail, and Fourth Street Live.

I have stayed here many times over the years. It is a lovely old hotel.
Parking deck has a covered walkway to hotel which is nice if you prefer to
self park, as I almost always do.
The rooms have always been spotless. You do have to put up with minor things that are prevelant in a hotel this age such as smallish rooms and bathrooms.
Beds are luxurious.
It really doesnt have a "bar" area, but the lobby serves as the bar which I kind of enjoy due to the people watching factor. Jacque Pepin was in the bar last time I stayed there. You will also see alot of Iinternational flight crews staying there.
I cant speak for the restaurant, but it appears to be highly rated locally.
Location is excellent if you need access to anything downtown.
Churchiil downs is very easy to drive to- just a couple of turns and then drive straight for a few miles.

My first time staying at the Brown. First impression is that the staff cares about their business and their guests.

Clean rooms. Great food. Nice old historic property which is well preserved.

Rooms are spacious and quiet and clean.

This place knows quality and how to how to deliver elegance on a broad scale. We stayed one night in a deluxe club king room. It was a nice room with a lot of space. The room was spotless and the bed was comfortable.

The Brown's website is a very accurate portrayal of the hotel. They go for an upscale experience here and it is all brought together by top notch service. The front desk was very busy at check in and check out. The same was true with the valet service. The staff was polite, courteous, and acted as if this was business as usual.

My girlfriend and I ate at the English Grill (the hotel's premiere restaurant). It was a fulfilling experience. The wait staff and maître de were very attentive and made you feel as if you were the only one's dining there. We even got to meet the executive chef, which was a cool experience.

To sum up the elegance of the restaurant, my girlfriend commented that she felt as if she and I were dining on the Titanic.

We would definitely stay here and dine here again. It is not just a place to stay, but a destination.

Room Tip: The club level rooms are a great choice!
