“Living on it's past glory...”

I agree with the many other reviews that the lobby is classic, and is the best feature of this hotel. Unfortunately, the rooms, elevators, and hallways need to be remodeled. I also agree with the other reviews that the walls between the rooms are paper thin. It was very annoying for me to try and sleep when I was constantly being awakened by people in the rooms on both side of mine. For the price I paid, I should have been able to enjoy a quiet, restful night's sleep. Maybe that's why the hotel continues to promote the ghost tales. So they could explain away the noises in the night...

The hotel was a traditional historic Hotel. Beautiful lobby. Free transportation from the airport. Food was excellent.
On the negative side, the wireless internet only connected about 50% of the time despite front desk and IT calls. The elevators were slow and the fitness center was too small. Only two treadmills but one was broken and 3 elipitical that were always in use during 0600 and 11.00pm(fitness center times).

We booked the hotel through Hotwire and got a great deal and they even upgraded us when we checked in so we were thrilled. We had 2 rooms for 3 of us. The birthday girl got a King suite and my friend and I shared a Queen Double. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. My only complaint would be there is no fan in the bathroom to clear the steam after a shower. The hotel is very historical and beautiful and the service was wonderful. Someone previous stated there were 'sketchy' people outside of the hotel, but we never experienced that. Louiveille is a wonderful diverse city with great culture and awesome restaurants. There was a free trolley running right outside the hotel to take you anywhere in the city so we utilized that. (I think it's free on certain Friday's otherwise there is a small fee) We ate breakfast at the hotel restaurant Grahams. It was very good but we paid cash and they did give us the wrong change back twice in their favor but it was finally corrected. We had drinks at the bar in the lobby and it was very nice with a lady playing the piano. I would defiantely stay here again, it was a great stay.

We left an iPod touch at the hotel . Once we arrived home since we had been traveling, we had no idea where we had left it. About two weeks later we were contacted by the Brown Hotel out of the blue and they found and then shipped our iPod back to us in California! We truly appreciated the honesty of the staff and their efforts to return our property with our family photos on it to us. Thank you to the staff at the Brown. We would happily return to the Brown if we find our way back to Luoisville.

Perhaps I felt jaded by all the great reviews, expecting exceptional customer service at The Brown Hotel and a grand foyer. The lobby is beautiful, but I expected it to be much larger-it seemed somewhat crammped compared to the photos. The bar is located in it, along with some tables for dining, and then some lounge chairs & couches. We stayed in a club floor guest room for an extra $40 per night, which I don't think was worth it. It does include a cocktail hour with complimentary wine, beer, soda, cookies, and light appetizers along with continental breakfast. If you go to both, it is worth the extra cost but if the hours don't coincide for you then you might want to pass & use the $40 elsewhere. I did enjoy the fancy Starbucks machine, however! The concierge on the club level was EXTREMELY helpful as we were out of town visitors and were looking for local advice and (I think her name was) Patricia went out of her way to assist us. Parking is an extra $20 per night, fairly standard in cities.

Room Tip: We had a corner room, which I believe was an upgrade on a high floor and they city was beautiful to...

Lovely historic hotel that looks like it has been recently renovated. Nice rooms with nice fabrics and touches. A very gracious staff who always seem to be there at just the right time. Very classy. Great from the front door to a great nights sleep.

My husband and I stayed at the Brown for a conference. The dinner was in the Ball Room....wow, you could just picture women and men dancing in their long evening gowns and tuxedos from the 19th century. The ambiance was breathtaking. On the top three floors of the hotel, breakfast in the early morning and wine and h'orderves at dusk, all included.
The rooms were old but very clean!! Beds were very comfortable, with four different pillows for different choices of firmness. I would recommend this hotel to even the most picky of my friends.

Room Tip: Ask for the top floors.

Dear Guest,
Delighted to hear that we would succeed with even your “picky” friends!
Our Crystal Ballroom has retained much of its flavor from 1923 when the hotel opened, with the original chandeliers and the lovely hand painted ceiling.
Please let me know if ever I may be of assistance in future.
