Shiraz Mediterrean Grill
Ranked #201 of 1,850 Restaurants in Louisville
Description: The Akrami family (Azar & Ata) migrated to the United States of America in the late 1970’s due to the persecution of the members of their faith (Baha’i faith: www.bahai.org) in their native country of Persia. They left everything behind and with great courage, determination, and faith started a whole new life with their two sons, Ramin and Ashcon. Always known as excellent cooks with a never-ending passion for food, Ata and Azar soon found friends asking to prepare food for small parties and soon after started the business called Ata’s Catering in the early parts of the 1980’s. The word of mouth soon reached the nearby cities to their hometown of Louisville, KY, traveling as far as Washington DC. After a few decades of persistence by friends and foe alike to open a restaurant, Akrami’s sons Ramin and Ashcon finally put a front to a very old family tradition of crazy-good food and then there was born Shiraz Mediterranean Grill.

We stopped at the Holiday Manor Center location off I-264 while driving through Louisville on the way to Mammoth Cave. Decent vegetarian options and locally owned. Servers friendly.

The food is good but this restaurant is convinced that the little plastic ramicans are enough to call sides. It's only 2-3 spoonfuls and they call that a side. Food is fresh but I'll never buy anymore since I know I can go to other Mediteranean restaurants for the same price and quality and get the normal portionate sides. Very disappointed in the sides. You can even look at the website main page, scroll to the bottom and see a plastic ramican with sauce in it. That is the size of their sides.

We love this place and the food is excellent. Even our 13 year old requests this restaurant almost every time.

I live in SD, but travel here for work 3-4 times per year. Everytime I come back, I am at least recognized by face. The setting, utensils, and decor are not overly impressive, but just wait for the food. Great humus!

Mediterranean grill with dishes from the Akrami family recipe book. Friendly atmosphere, delicious food, and personal attention from the owner made our group very pleased with our experience
