Very nice Bistro ambiance in downtown and the wine and food prices reflected the kind of value that Bistros should exhibit. It seemed like the owner was in the house as everything just seemed on point. The food was very good and the wine list value was excellent. We were having a business meeting over dinner; we did not want to rush. There were several empty tables around us so there was no pressure whatsoever to get us out of there. First the waitress tried to take away the appetizer before we had finished it - not good. We ordered another bottle of wine during our main course because we wanted to continue our discussion. The waitress asked about desert and I told her we just wanted to enjoy our wine while we were talking. A few minutes later she turned up with the bill and “ I’ll take that when you are ready’’. We had not decided on desert or coffee, we had just purchased another bottle of wine. If there are free tables and if we are still buying of thinking of buying why are you bringing the bill to get rid of us. It was very irritating. I told her to take the bill back and she did make some recovery by not bringing it until asked for it. The lesson - one size does not fit all with service. Some people want to bolt their food and run, some don’t , recognize it and serve accordingly.
