“Good food, great location for the theaters”
Reviewed March 16, 2013

Pre theater dining on March 7. We were 15 minutes late due to heavy traffic on the Kennedy Bridge but our table was still available.
Service and food were both very good, Interior was intersting.
I had the flank steak with Henry Bain sauce, it is Louisville after all, and was pleased with the quality and portion size. Can't remember what my wife had but her comments were favorable.
We both agreed that we would return.
The only draw back as mentioned in previous reviews is the noise level. Brick walls will do that for you. Some investment in sound deadening wall hangings is needed.

“Average Food and service to improve”
Reviewed March 16, 2013 via mobile

I had a dinner Wednesday night and took some shared starters and a hot brown (turkey with some other stuff). The food was on average nothing special and dressed with a lot of sauce (too much for me) and service was very slow. A Spanish wine 40$ a bottle quite expansive for the quality. I had better dining experiences...

“Food and and service "5" - ambiance "ZERO"”
Reviewed March 9, 2013

We had dinner here on a Friday night before attending a show at the nearby Kentucky Center. Our reserved table was ready when we arrived, the service was professional and prompt and our food was delicious. I had a tortellini dish and my wife had crabcakes. Unfortunaly the noise level was louder than the rowdiest bar you could image. The accoustics of the place were such that you could hear EVERY conversation, meaning that everyone had to talk very loud and sometimes SCREAM to be heard tby heir dining partners. The result was an ear-splitting cacaphony of voices that spoiled our dining experience . Our advice to the owners - invest in some round-reduction materials, or post a sign on the door that says "WARNING - EXCESSIVE SOUND LEVELS INSIDE."

“Casual dining, with super food!”
Reviewed February 22, 2013

This is "Restaurant Week" in Louisville and for the first time, we had the opportunity to have dinner at Bistro 301. It's a lively spot (more so this week) however the servers are all very professional, well-trained and helpful. They offer a wide range of entrees; all of them are prepared using local meat and produce (I learned they have a Farm to Table) program so everything is really top-notch.

They also have a large selection of wines available at pretty reasonable prices. Before dinner I ordered one of their specialty drinks, the "Dirty Harry" which while not exactly a drink from San Francisco was great. It was a vodka martini with Wisconsin blue cheese stuffed olives. Hey, how can anyone go wrong with this!
