Decided to visit the Irish Rover with my gal pals a few weeks ago. The pub itself is a wonderful old house, with a genuine pub atmosphere... the staff were warm and inviting, our waitress helped us pick out the best items on the menu, and being three of us, we all tried something different, and share! Scotch Eggs are FABULOUS.. the fish and chips fried perfectly... and the Irish Stew just as amazing. I normally am a Killians Irish Red fan, so she also suggested to try the Rover Red draft, it was wonderful...Can't wait to get back !

Great menu and beer list. Great service. Fish and chips - classic. Cabbage rolls were great. Perfect pours on the beers. A bit of a wait, we should have called ahead. But once we were seated, service was really fast.

Have a pint of draft Smithwicks ale as you look over this very nice menu that has enough choices you can find something you will love. If you are feeling more like breakfast, then the Scottish eggs are for you! Hard boiled eggs covered in a sausage batter and then deep fried are a real treat. The Cashel salad with delicate Bibb lettuce and tasty Irish blue cheese is a perfect small meal for you if you just want a small amount - say for lunch. My favorite is, of course, the Fish and Chips! You can't find a better preparation anywhere. Usually on the daily special blackboard is a Basa fish sandwich that is a very delicate fish prepared perfectly.

If you don't want the nice fries that come with a lot of the dishes, ask for the slalw instead. It is some of the best slaw I have ever had - not just a mayonnaise and cabbage mix you find in a lot of places. By this time, it is time for another Smithwicks!

This pub served by far the best true pub food. The lamb stuffed cabbage was great as well as the stew. The overall experience was fun, we got to meet the owner who is truly an Irishman . A must go to place if you are in Louisville and looking for a pub.

I have eaten here many times and have yet to find a dish I do not love. Staff is always friendly. Highly recommend this restaurant for lunch or dinner.
