Owner description: The Frazier History Museum is a world-class museum that provides an unforgettable journey through history with ever-changing and interactive exhibits, daily performances by costumed interpreters and engaging special events and programs. To complement our amazing permanent collection, which includes thousands of items from famous world leaders and one of the country's largest toy soldier displays, the Frazier Museum offers an ever-changing selection of intriguing temporary exhibits. Every day, we offer live historic performances, bringing visitors face to face with some of the people and events that changed the world forever, as well as with average people whose moving and important stories you've probably never heard. The Frazier Museum is located on downtown Louisville's "Museum Row" in a beautiful 100,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art facility originally called the "Doerhoefer Building," a late 19th century, Chicago-style commercial structure. The Frazier Museum has three floors of exhibits, an education center, Museum Store and tournament ring, as well as event spaces available for rent, including a beautiful Rooftop Garden featuring seasonal blooming flowers and our Fourth Floor Loft space that accommodates up to 360 people seated.

I have been to a lot of museums but have to say I was very impressed. I only had a couple of hours so make sure you give yourself plenty of time. They also do live historical interpretation so try to catch one of those on the stage near the entrance.

Excellent museum right in the middle of Louisville. The lifesized displays and many artifacts are more than I would have expected in Louisville.

My husband and I visited the Frazier Museum to view a special Civil War exhibit. We had a great time! Plan for at least 3-4 hours, to view the American history exhibit, (a bison on roller skate wheels), any special exhibits, and the Royal Armories exhibit. Parking behind the museum is only $3 for the whole day, and it's right across the street from the Slugger Museum. We will definitely go back.

Our ten year old grandson spied this museum from the Louisville Slugger factory across the street and talked us into a tour (primarily for the Civil War display). Smart kid! We were very impressed with the quality and presentation of the items on display and could have spent much longer than the hour and a half that we had.
There are certainly lots of weapons, but lots of history associated with the weapons and some very interesting Lincoln items. Starting on the third floor and working the way down as suggested by the staff person was very helpful in keeping the timelines in order.

If you need something to do on a rainy or snowy day, spending an afternoon here is worth the effort.
