Owner description: The Frazier History Museum is a world-class museum that provides an unforgettable journey through history with ever-changing and interactive exhibits, daily performances by costumed interpreters and engaging special events and programs. To complement our amazing permanent collection, which includes thousands of items from famous world leaders and one of the country's largest toy soldier displays, the Frazier Museum offers an ever-changing selection of intriguing temporary exhibits. Every day, we offer live historic performances, bringing visitors face to face with some of the people and events that changed the world forever, as well as with average people whose moving and important stories you've probably never heard. The Frazier Museum is located on downtown Louisville's "Museum Row" in a beautiful 100,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art facility originally called the "Doerhoefer Building," a late 19th century, Chicago-style commercial structure. The Frazier Museum has three floors of exhibits, an education center, Museum Store and tournament ring, as well as event spaces available for rent, including a beautiful Rooftop Garden featuring seasonal blooming flowers and our Fourth Floor Loft space that accommodates up to 360 people seated.

I took my 8 year old here last week and while he was done in about an hour and a half, I could have spend most of a day there. It is the only display of weapons from the British armory in the U.S. and the vast breadth of the collection is fascinating. Weapons and armor from before the Norman invasion up to the British colonial period is displayed in detail and placed in appropriate context. Just reading all the information would take a day. That is not to mention the excellent collection of 18th and 19th century American arms from the museums own collection. This is a specialized museum and if you are not subject to fascination with war and weapons it likely will get old after about an hour. However any war history buff will likely want to just pitch a tent for a long and satisfying visit.

Have you ever been curious about the way people dressed back in the 1800's? Did you ever wonder what Fountain Ferry Park was, and why so many adults wistfully talked about all the fun they had there? Would you like to know who invented some of our more intricate machines and gadgets? These thoughts, and more, could find their displays featured at the Frazier Museum in Louisville, where you are always invited to take "a walk back in time"! The displays at Frazier are amazing, and the set-ups are spectacular. Everything is kept in top-notch shape, and some of the displays are so realistic you have to think for a moment if it is possible...! Spend the day or afternoon at the Frazier, and you too can take a walk back in time!!

My son volunteered there one summer, and we have had a membership there for several years. The displays are outstanding, and their featured exhibits are always amazing. A history buff should not miss this place.

I am not a weapons fan; I would never have imagined enjoying this museum. I am so glad I went and I have gone back several times. It is outstanding and full of beautiful weapon art and very interesting history. LIve programs daily featuring acting and/or swordfighting and even sometimes jousting. Special traveling exhibits always available. Kids activities. A very worthwhile museum. Plan about 3 hours minimum.
