“Superhip”

I stayed here for three nights when in town for business. It is a very chic, relentlessly hip hotel, at times it actually felt like a bit much. But then, you have to accept that you're staying in a museum for 21st-century art. There's a lot of deliberate coolness everywhere, including the bathrooms, the elevators, the hallways. The good: The bed was one of the most comfy I've ever slept on (I was in a king-bed room), I loooved the big square sink in the bathroom (wish I had one at home), my room was immaculately clean, and the folks at the front desk could not have been more helpful. Also the room was very soundproof, which I sincerely appreciate...I hate when I can hear people walking around the hallways, and this place was full but virtually silent. But my stay wasn't flawless; they forgot my wake-up call my last morning (apparently something was up with their system because I wasn't the only guest) and I actually enjoyed the food outside of the hotel more than inside. There are also some touches I could do without, such as the stupid window outside the ladies' room on the first floor that allows people to look in and see women at the sink. Not necessary! I'd go back, though, especially when you compare this place to the other offerings in Louisville.

The 21C Museum Hotel is a fantastic place to stay, eat, have a drink or take in the unusual contemporary and ever-changing art collection. The staff are very professional, yet in a slightly informal way that makes one feel immediately at home. Given the small size of the place, you don't feel like a room number, but a guest.

This hotel is located in a renewed artsy area near the waterfront of downtown Louisville Ky. We drove around the block twice before we found the entrance. You have to look at the roof line to see the RED Penguins identifying the hotel. But we had also another identifier, their restored bedazelled stretch limousine parked at the entrance.

The moment you pass thru the front doors, you know that this place is special. The art work (presented on a rotating exhibit basis is very bold, controversial and contemporary), in some instances is interactive with the viewer.

The whole experience from registration through check-out is casual and comfotable even though you are also in a museum area.

The rooms on four floors, are very modern, well furnished and stocked. The service is friendly and attentive. Everyone goes the extra mile to make your visit memorable.

Because the art work is on exhibit to the public, there is security, uniformed and otherwise for the benefit of registered guests.

The restaurant and cuisine are a combination of contemporary, continental, and eclectic by a superb chef. We ate Brunch, Lunch, and Dinner in the hotel restaurant. Each was an experience. The cocktail servers and bartender are all well versed in brands, mixes etc. with the emphasis on bourbon. ESPECIALLY KENTUCKY LIQUORS.

The guest rooms, hallways, elevator area, restaurant, bar and lobby all have outstanding art work on display.

Family friendly, for well behaved children.

Easy walking distance to other attractions in the area.

Room Tip: All rooms are different and good.

Though we were greeted with a fire alarm sounding as we entered the hotel, the guests quickly emptied, helped by the addition of umbrellas given to them by the staff, as it was beginning to rain. After waiting a while, we decided to walk a couple of blocks and got a drink and snack. From there, we called the hotel, and were told that it had been a false alarm; when we checked in they were very welcoming. Our room was lovely, quiet and the bed was great! We had a fabulous meal that evening at Proof on Main (in the hotel), and I can't praise the chef enough. After dinner, we Wenjoyed the exhibition of the Cuban art. It was great to be able to see the entire exhibition without feeling rushed. Incidentally, we parked in a garage directly behind the hotel and paid only about a third of the cost of valet parking. The hotel was just a few steps away. We will definitely be back - thank you for a very luxurious and restful experience.

We loved our recent trip to Louisville. The 21c staff was really helpful and friendly. We love the atmosphere and the art. The hotel restaurant was also excellent. Its right in the middle of the museum district and are trip to the Louisville Slugger museum was awesome (even without kids). Louisville is an interesting city.

Stayed here over the Labor Day weekend and had a blast. The personal touches were amazing, and the hotel was just plain fun. Every time we went to our room, the kids had to stop and play with the wall of falling letters. Staff was very accomodating, even had a penguin delivered to our room for a photo op with my daughter. Check in was easy, quick, friendly and very helpful. Staff updated us on events in the area, went to the World Expo that we had no idea about and had a good time. Located downtown close to the Louisville Slugger musuem and only a couple blocks within most attractions.

Room Tip: We had an interior room so the view was not real impressive, but I am sure that was due to the speci...

We stayed for four nights at the 21c Museum Hotel and can recommend it highly. The concept of the Hotel is very unique with a full display area for art and sculpture on the ground and lower level. You can get a drink in the bar (which has a very good collection of bourbons)and wander around the exhibits. The location of the hotel is very near many good tourist attractions and the staff was consistently friendly and helpful in giving directions. The price was not cheap including valet parking at $24 per night but still good value. Also their restaurant was also very good and continued the art display concept with some very unusual wall mountings

Room Tip: does the room have a street view or an interior courtyard view? Our room had an interior courtyard v...
