The restaurant it quaint. The wait staff is knowledgable. The menu is expressive. The food is fantastic and flavorful. I've eaten here seven consecutive Tuesdays and have tried something new each visit. This is one of my new favorite dining locals.

“Delicious, Authentic, Outstanding Value, Spotty Service”
Reviewed August 24, 2013

My son is from Iraq and my mom must eat gluten free, so I picked this restaurant based on a listing of restaurants with gluten free menus, and because my son is always up for a good homemade shawarma. I called the restaurant to confirm and they said everything on the menu was gluten free except the pita bread.

The restaurant looks dodgy from the outside and inside, but don't let that deter you. It is owned by a Palestinian with a good reputation in Louisville and he is also the cook. The interior is a bit scary with harsh fluorescent lighting and blue linoleum tile floors but you're not dining here for atmosphere. The menu is not huge, but it has most of the standard Middle Eastern specialities (humus, baba ganosh, gyros, shawarmas, etc.) The menu includes appetizers, entrees, salads and small and large plates.

The prices are great. Only $9.95 for a "large" plate meal and all of the portion sizes were more than adequate. The food was outstanding, very homemade tasting and authentic, according to my son. It was the best humus I have ever had; rich flavor and not too garlicky. The salads were fresh and taste homemade from fresh ingredients.

The misses were all service related: one entree was served with yellow rice instead of basmati rice as ordered; the server forgot to bring a beverage; for one of the entrees, one of the three accompanying salads was wrong.

The soft drinks lacked a full syrup flavor.

My mom ate a variety of foods and enjoyed them all with no gluten-related symptoms after.

For one appetizer, four entrees and three drinks, the check was $58.00. A bargain!
