“Excellent Italian, fun ambience”
Reviewed October 22, 2013

I had an early dinner here with my business associate while in town earlier this month. We sat in the bar area at a hightop cocktail table, ordered drinks and small plates. A lively crowd, smiling staff and good food and drink...what more do you need?

I hear that this place is packed for Kentucky Derby, but it was doing very well on a Wednesday night in October!

we come to Louisville at least once a year, and it's a tradition that we have one meal here. the food is good, the wine list is adequate, the service is usually great, and the atmosphere is old school Italian. it's not a typical Italian place, but have some very good Italian dishes. their grilled peach appetizer is wonderful. I had a snapper dish that was prepared perfectly. we'll keep coming to Louisville, and we'll keep coming to Porcini.

“A Louisville Landmark”
Reviewed August 22, 2013

My husband and I were in a group of guests on a weekend night there. The service, atmosphere and food were wonderful. Many of us have dined at great restaurants here and abroad. It was the general consensus of our group that the appetizers, entrees and/or desserts that each of us ordered were very good. As a result, we have decided to add Porcini's to our list of favorite restaurants there. We look forward to dining there next year when we are in Louisville once again for the World Championship Horse Show.

“A Night Out With Friends”
Reviewed August 18, 2013

While visiting friends in Louisville they made reservations at Porcini, it was a first time for all of us. The restaurant is decorated beautifully and the staff is friendly and well trained. The food was good but not up to the staff and the decor. Very good wine list and the bartender knew how to make a Limoncello Martini. It was excellent and a great way to start the evening with our friends. A very enjoyable evening.

“Great atmosphere”
Reviewed July 14, 2013

This Italian restaurant is located in Crescent Hill which has a free trolley running on Frankfort Avenue during the weekend. We stopped locals coming out of the restaurant and all gave it a hearty thumbs up....we agree. Up front are big picture windows looking out at trees with lights and a railroad track which gives a nostagic view of a train going by sometime during the evening. Further back into the dining area, the atmosphere is very romantic with candles on the table. Brick and light grey textured walls, Italian light fixtures and lite columns lend to the decor with light jazz music in the background. There's a pizza oven and a sports T.V. in the bar.Try the Insalata di Pere salad with arugula, pears, goat cheese, toasted hazelnuts and pear vinaigrette for $8. We split it. The Linguini Gambeis Palernis with grilled shrimp, olives, roasted pepper, capers, toasted pine nut, sundried tomatoe, roasted garlic, and parmigiano reggino for $20 was excellent, Owner and chef has been together for 20 years which is highly unusual. No negetives here. Great service.
