“An unexpected treasure”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 21, 2013

We are always looking for different dining treats and this is one we love. Gourmet burgers with other choices than beef combined with not your ordinary sweet potatoes fries and pineapple dipping sauce is just the start. Pasta and mussel combinations are tantalizing to the tongue and soul. Add to that a full bar with original drinks and craft beers in a funky setting and you can't go wrong. Great fun place for a couple or groups of friends and they also have party rooms.

“Fantastic hidden gem”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 19, 2013 via mobile

We've been wanting to eat here for several months & finally took the time to do so. OH my! we have wasted so much time not enjoying the food. The location is a bit difficult to find if you don't have good directions but once you find it you are treated to a tasty meal. We ordered the "lemonade" which was very good & potent. Began with the mussel appetizer that was in a lobster bisque with chorizo Oh my my. We shared the bleu cheese burger that came with sweet potatoe fries. Again a 5 star yum. I strongly encourage visitors & locals to try this gem.

“A Great Choice For Eclectic Food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 13, 2013 via mobile

The Mussel and Burger Bar is a popular place in Louisville Ky. It is a bit hard to find, but is well worth the effort. It sits back behind a huge shopping center and is not visible from the street. Our GPS even missed it. It is located in a complex that looks more like a group of office spaces.

Once inside you find that the place appears to be a fancy restaurant, but in fact is a casual place to eat. And on busy evenings it is loud. If you are seated in the bar area (at tables) conversation is difficult due to the noise, both speech and the sound system. The best seating for a couple is in one of the booth spaces away from the bar room.

But all of that goes away once you check out the menu. Starters run the gamut from Foie Gras to soft shell crab sliders. My favorite is Short Rib Nachos. They use homemade potato chips topped with braised short ribs, guacamole, pico de gallo, jack cheese, jalapenos and sour cream. And the portion is huge. You can easily fill up on this but save room for the mussels (served in several different sauces), and of course the burgers. The burgers are not your ordinary slab if beef. They are truly gourmet thrill rides. They grind their own meat, and top it with items such as Spanish blue cheese, fig marmalade and pepper crest (Spanish Blue Burger) or the C.E.O. Burger which has truffle aioli, baby arugula, gruyere cheese and foie gras wow! They even have a seafood burger made with crab meat, shrimp, lobster. Topped with avocado, tomatoes, crab meat aioli on a pretzel bun! 13 different burgers and they are huge. Plan on having a take home box. The prices may seem a bit high, but not for all you get. If you just want a burger head for the Golden Arches but if you want to dine, head for the Mussel and Burger Bar. Also service is first rate, with a wait staff that knows the menu selections well and can recommend items for those who may be unsure of things.

“When you want to treat yourself at lunch...”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 11, 2013

... head to Mussel & Burger Bar. Our favorites include the Seafood Burger and the sweet potato fries with the pineapple dipping sauce! We've also tried a few of the other burgers, all of which are so big that we usually end up taking 1/2 home, giving us tasty leftovers for dinner. Great service and we've never had to wait for a table at lunchtime.

“O. M. G.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 7, 2013 via mobile

Went here on Saturday night with my husband. 45 min wait but no big deal. I had their Wildkat cocktail and my husband had the MBB tea. The tea was delicious and I was slightly disappointed that I hadn't ordered it! We had the beef taquitos to start, they were tiny (the server gave us a heads up on this) but yummy. My husband had the "Good 'Ole" burger and I had the "Southern Belle" with fried green tomatoes and pimento cheese. It was amazing. Our burgers were cooked well and tasted great! And the sweet potato fries were nice too! Our total was $47 before tip and we were very pleased with the entire meal including service. Will definitely be back!!
