“Wonderful experience!”
Reviewed September 1, 2009

We arrived at this hotel two weeks after they and Louisville experienced a flash flood. As I understand it, the lobby area was flooded and I can't imagne what a mess it must have been. When we arrived, you would never guess anything had happened! The whole place was as clean as a whistle! Staff was just as helpful as could be. We arrived about 11am and were surprised to be able to get into our rooms immediately! THe bell boy brought up our very full cart seeing as we would be ther a week for a Legion convention. He hung all the clothes that were on hangers and even filled the ice bucket!

My husband had reserved a electic scooter which we received help with from Jessica at the consierge desk and it was there for him very quickly. I've read some other reviews where someone said it was hard to fins places to eat......you've got to be kidding! Head down 4th Street and there was a wealth of wonderful restuarants with suberb food and the restuarant in the hotel had excellent food also! We also spent quite a bit of time at the Champions sports bar within the hotel. Great food but very slow staff. Kept forgetting to give us our food bill!

The only problem we had was that the hotel wanted $20 to park. We went behind the hotel and parked there for 4.50 per day! We coud use the business office and check email, etc for free! A real plus! All in all, a wonderful experience and I would highly recommend it to anyone!

During the 4th of July holiday weekend, my husband and I stayed at this lovely hotel, which hosted my family reunion. We were pleasantly surprised that this hotel was so new and luxurious, compared to other Marriotts where we've stayed. The lobby, elevators, decor, etc. were quite inviting and elegant. The staff was most helpful and although, we weren't upgraded like the prior poster, we were more than satisfied with our accommodations. The room was quite clean and had a great view of the Ohio River (and fireworks). We loved the fitness room w/the 42 inch plasmas and sound system. Also, the whirlpool was relaxing and the indoor pool was refreshing. My husband liked that the Starbucks was off the lobby so that retrieving his morning java was really easy. We walked everywhere -- to the Galt House for mint juleps; to the Muhammad Ali Center; and to 4th Street for lunch at the Maker's Mark Restaurant (very good food, by the way). We ate a most scrumptious brunch at the Blu Restaurant near the lobby while being serenaded by an accordian player, adding to the Mediterranean decor. As we arrived earlier than our relatives, we got to enjoy Louisville (Churchill Downs) and the surrounding area near the hotel. It's not a bustling city that we're used to, but we found many things to see and do. We will, definitely, return back to this hotel as it was perfect!

Nice place, my husband is allergic to feathers so had to request twice for a blanket. We ate in the hotel resturant 5 times and was not disappointed. Outrageous price for internet. Should be free. 12.95 for each 24 hour period. People very friendly. Very disappointed in the whole Louisville trip, finding anywhere to eat that was not a Subway or Pappa John's was not an easy task.

Did a week in Louisville. This was the 2nd time I have stayed at this property. I enjoyed this property so much the first time I stayed here, that when the meeting moved out to Oxmoor (12 miles east) -I opted to stay here and drive to the meeting.
The Hotel offers all the best a marriott can provide. Well appointed room, very friendly and well trained staff, a location that is close to 4th st (a pedestrain mall) -but not so close as to keep you up at night or bother you with the crowds.

The Hotel has a Starbucks in the lobby -which I love to get before the ride. It offers fine dining and a more casual resturant. I opted to eat out of the property most nights -just because I like to get to know the area I'm staying in.

The property offers a nice gym with lots of machines -all in working order as of 6/09 -it also has a pool and a jacuzzi.

Great location if visiting 4th Street Live.
Pretty lobby, comfortable rooms. Will probably visit again next year for Derby Festival.

A new hotel, just about 5 years old. Great building, good and big lobby, friendly staff who are really concerned to make you feel at home.

The only thing I observed was that in the fine dining restaurant wasn't really fine, not the food but the service. No service protocol was in sight in the restaurant. Staff was friendly but were setting the tables up in a very casual manner and every 10 minutes were passing by the table and asking if everything was fine. Some guests really don't like to be disturbed. I also saw them handle the cutlery with bare hands which is weird.

The hotel's concierge desk is closed on around the weekend. But the front desk staff is equally helpful and have good knowledge of the area and attractions.

But overall experience was great. I would recommend this to anyone going to Louisville as it has a great location and many things to do around except on Sundays.
