There's lots of things I love about waterfront park. There's sidewalks lining the view of the river which cover quite a distance. Great exercise with a beautiful view. There's several playgrounds along the park. One is a water playground that can get quite crowded, however, the kids love it. There's three other traditional playgrounds that have sections for younger children. My kids love riding their bikes down there. There's an area called the Great Lawn where you can rally up a game of touch football, frisbee, or relays with fresh air blowing by. The negatives...watch your kids closely on some of the playgrounds. There's no fencing blocking access to the river. I always worried one misstep would send one of them over the embankment and into the drink. Never happened, but when your a mom you worry about everything. It is downtown, and as it gets late, the environment changes a little unless there's a scheduled event. Probably best to head home around dark.
