We've been going for years to see the new work, meet the artist and make our own. They make it fun and interesting, we keep going back!

“Paint your own pottery in addition to professional pieces”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 15, 2012

We wanted to make a personalized gift for Christmas and really enjoyed the paint-your-own studio in the back. You can choose your piece, colors, and paint the items all without much hassle.

It was not very busy, but they were short staffed and had a new person working. As a result, service was a little slow. When the experienced person came back, she knew all about the offerings and made helpful suggestions too.

The children loved it, the price reasonable (about $20-40/piece, depending on size) and a memorable keepsake that was ready in about 1 week. The workshop is nothing fancy, and the stools are very tall so not ideal for very small kids. Much more utilitarian as opposed to commercial.

They have a huge showroom with wonderful pieces. We love the fact their dishes are microwaveable.

A hidden treasure is their "seconds" where some minor paint variations result in a nice discount off their full-priced items. This table of seconds is in the back room near the paint-your-own. Be sure to ask if you don't see it at first.

“Great Activity! We had fun time and learned something.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 28, 2011

We went to Louisville Stoneware not knowing what to expect and had a great time there. All the staff was very friendly and helpful. They have a neat shop/gallery where you can buy or order any of there products. We went on the tour, which talked about the history of the company and the artists. They take you behind the scenes around the work area and show you how the pottery is made from scratch. You see actual orders being made and are able to talk to the artists and other workers. It was very interesting to see all the work that goes into making just one piece. We also did the paint your own project where we picked out a piece and spent time painting our own designs. They have to fire the pieces, so you either have to come back and pick them up in several days or have them mailed. We had no problems with ours being shipped and they arrived the next week.I would recommend this for anyone, all ages and groups. It was alot of fun.
