“Great food and drinks”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 26, 2013

Doc Crow's is a great restaurant to enjoy food and drinks with friends. We sat close to the bar and tried a number of bourbon drinks that were all great. We tried the peel and eat shrimp which were good and spicy, great fried oysters and the heap'n chips which was the best. We also ordered a meat sampler which was good but probably too much food. Our server was one of the best we had in Louisville. The whiskey lover will not want to leave this place as their list is outstanding.

“Great food and atmosphere!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 24, 2013

After walking the town for a bit we decided to try this restaurant because the menu looked great and the restaurant was busy, usually a good sign. The staff was friendly and very helpful. The mussels were amazing!! The pulled pork was a great choice as well. The fried green tomatoes were a little disappointing, but both bourbon cocktails we ordered were delicious. The restaurant was busy but has plenty of seating in a cozy but bustling environment. Would definately go back!

“Fantastic in every way possible!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 19, 2013

I went to have my hair done at Xhale and asked the stylist what her favourite restaurant in downtown Louisville was - - she recommended Doc Crow's. We were not disappointed or misled. Seated at a window table, the server, Michael, was outstanding. We loved that he sat down with us to discuss the bourbon list, the menu, and make other recommendations for us of places to try and also where to buy bourbon. Service friendly, warm, timely, impeccable. Food - to die for! Oysters. We shared the deep fried pork chop on his recommendation and it was nicely divided in two well presented dishes...I'm not sure I've ever had a better pork chop. I would return to this place in a heartbeat. Truly a delightful experience and Michael was one of the best servers we've ever had! Don't let this place escape your experience in Louisville!

“Will go back again”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 15, 2013 via mobile

I enjoyed this restaurant. The po boy shrimp sandwich was very good and so was the fried okra. My husband said the oysters and ribs were ok, he wouldn't order them again. He did eat half of my sandwich and loved it as much as I did. Our server was very attentive but not annoying, the ambiance was nice. We will be going back.

“Comfortable smokehouse”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 14, 2013

Wanted something close to convention center and our hotel, yet a feel of Kentucky. Seemed like a smokehouse fit the bill. The restaurant is large, but with smaller sections that provide a more cozy feel, complete with leather backed booths. The menu is also large, ranging from the raw bar (in Kentucky?) which has been favorably reviewed elsewhere. We were here for the meat. We knew it was the right place by the window of meat/ ribs waiting for their turn in the smoker as we were led to our booth. Our server was attentive and informative. We started with questions about the page long list of bourbons (when in Kentucky!!). You can get drinks, shots and tastes to sample. We tried 2 to trade tastes. Both were tasty with a bit of the bourbon bite and enough to share. Our appetizers were the fried green tomatoes with a rather thick breading but generous portion and nice remoulade sauce. The crab cake appetizer (could have been a meal for one) was a good share as well, mostly crab and nice side salad and sauce. Our smokehouse sampler included a 1/2 rack of baby back ribs, brisket and pulled pork. Good smokey nose and taste though the brisket and ribs were a little dry. The pulled pork stood up better. My favorite was the side of pit smoked beans, and we enjoyed the okra as well. The sides are good portions again and inexpensive, so worth the addition to your entree. Do check the table sauces to kick up the flavor. For 2 people (who couldn't quite finish all we ordered) including the shots of bourbon...around $ 70 (before tax and tip), a good deal for a relaxed meal.
