Walking around the tree lined squares and leafy lanes with the fountains and gardens so beautifully kept, imagining how it would have been years ago - and we're pretty sure not much has changed there - it was so peaceful, like being in a time warp and made us feel like we were in Frances Hodgson Burnett's "The Secret Garden". It was obvious that the people who live there love their homes and surroundings and take great care and pride in them. Not very impressed with The Visitor Centre - we wanted to have tea and a cake in the area and the place she sent us to was awful - run down, grubby and salubrious is being generous.
