Stayed Sat. night while attending program at the nearby Ky Center for the Arts. We've stayed at Galt House occasionally over the years for its convenient location. Room 1026 in west tower, the basic double non-smoking, AARP rate $112 plus (high) taxes, $9 overnight parking.
Some conventions there, lots of young people, but west tower still seemed rather deserted. Our room was quite satisfactory, decor neutral to a fault, very good beds and pillows, lots of lighting. Poster beds, nice art (horses), leather-like recliner chair, other basic furniture. Additional sink area, with coffeemaker, outside the bathroom, which was nice with lots of towels. Nothing fancy, not a luxury hotel, at least in the older west tower, but very clean, except for some mysterious stuff like pizza sauce dried and smeared over a picture in the bathroom. Our room smelled new, as if just painted or new carpet. The halls on this floor bright and colorful with red patterned carpeting.
Breakfast at the riverfront restaurant, almost deserted, friendly service but not very good food, as usual. We did not try the buffet as we had big dinner night before at a favorite nearby , Bristol Cafe in the 600 block of Main st.
