Our stay was fine for our purpose in Louisville. There is construction going on 27/7 on a new arena for Louisville. We were awakened early to the sounds of construction equipment as well as flashes from welding that continued all night. I would request a room facing the river to avoid the noise. The staff was helpful. The restaurant has a kids menu that serves enough for 2 children per portion. The meals were reasonably priced and the service was good. The location is right on the Ohio river. The hotel was conveniently located in down town. There is a trolley that passes by the hotel as well. It is an easy walk to the 4th Street pedestrian area. In all we would probably stay here again with a guarntee that we wouldn't be facing the construction.

I booked this hotel through Hotwire and was told by a former Louisville resident that I was in for a treat. That set the tone for the whole trip. This is the only riverfront hotel in downtown Lousiville and is located withing steps of all of the major Lousivlle sites including Lousiville Slugger, the Muhamed Ali Museum, and 4th Street Live. The hotel is quite historic and had quite a few stately looking guests checking in the same time I did. There are 2 towers and 2 parking garages and you should be sure to part your car only after you know which tower you will be staying in. The rooms themselves were a little disappointing. As stately as the reptation and lobby are, the rooms look like they were an afterthought. They still use traditional keys, but the applicances and bathroom were up-to-par. Everything was clean, it just didn't feel as swanky as I was expecting. Our room did have a spectacular riverfront view and overall, I feel I received a good value.

Our room in the Tower was fine and the service to the room was excellent as was the view of the river. My colleagues staying across the street in the Suite building were having issues with internet access and ease of access to their floor - the elevator card system in the suites side was indiscrimminate as to who could get to each floor.

The Galt has it's merits. We had a great view of the river from our room, which was good sized. It also has a well-equipped fitness center. The problem with the Galt is that it's a conference hotel. It's intended to accommodate large volumes of guests. As a consequence, customer service and character are sorely lacking. Its good for what it is, but never again for me. Next time I'll try the Brown or the Seelbach.

We stayed for a week while working at a conference held in the hotel. The suite was great. Only downside was it only had a shower, no tub. The location on the river is unique and it is within walking distance of 4th Street Live--where all the major restaurants are located and we had live music on one evening. Deli called Thelmas in the hotel was excellent and very affordable. Trolley (which only costs 50 cents) stops in front of the hotel.

Don't over pay for this hotel, for the $85 I paid, I had a nice clean room with excellent beds. The hotel is older and somewhat remodeld, but the rooms are very large and all have great views. The parking is not that bad and was included in the room rate. It take about 15 minutes to get out of the garage one morning, but this was not usual. The maids did not restock or clean very well on one of the 4 days i stayed there. The higher price rooms in the East Tower are the newer ones but the west tower was fine. The wireless service is free and very good. The food is expensive but many fine places at more reasonable prices can be found withint a few blocks. Try Cunninghams on 4th street.
