This museum was fun for everyone in our group--including our 18 mo and those uninterested in racing. The culture & history around this race is fascinating and the well-kept museum does a great job exhibiting this. Fun interactive exhibits--you can spend 2-4 hours, depending how much you want to dive in. Includes tour of the track and grandstands, even in winter. If you go in the afternoon, you can meet a pony horse up close. If you go at the right time of year, you can watch horses exercising on the track.

Loved the café - we got a variety of "Kentucky foods" and shared them. They gave our sons a piece of Derby Pie.
It was really cool to walk down to the track and see the paddocks

I had a couple of hours and wanted to see where the Kentucky Derby was. I took the tour which was great and very informative and the Museum is very hands on, educational, and fun.

The first floor is a very interesting and thorough history of the Kentucky Derby. One of the more interesting items is being able to watch old Kentucky Derbys as the archives goes back to the 40s. It is intesting to watch the old footage and try to see how the track and surrounding area has changed over the years. On the second floor some of the displays are aimed more at children. The highlight for children seems to be the jockey dressing room. In this activity they can mix and match different goggles, helmets, and silks and check out their look in a handy mirror. Next to this "activity" is a life sized plastic horse loaded into a starting gate. This provided an excellent photo opportunity. Nice way to spend a morning or afternoon.
