“Historical and Interesting”
Reviewed November 6, 2012

On a recent trip especially to see this historical race course, we were not disappointed. The museum is next door to Churchhill Downs and tours are available of the track with the general admission. The museum was very interesting as well as the movie provided. The museum highlights all the winners of the Derby including famous jockeys, owners, and other items/stories of horse racing history associated with Churchhill Downs.

We would have spent more time at the race track with our tour guide but the weather was cold and rainy that particular day. We did learn that people buy their tickets for the next Derby a year in advance.

This was definitely a worthwhile visit for a great family outing.

“Nice displays and history”
Reviewed November 5, 2012

Visited this with a large group and was disappointed our tour wasn't guided but wandered around looking at the exhibits. I liked the Derby outfits and hats from celebrities. The film was interesting too. I'm not really into the interactive displays and while the Museum is nice, if you are wanting to learn about Derby and the horse industry I recommend doing two things: 1) Take a Lexington Horse Farm tour by Bluegrass Tours, 2) Attend either Derby or Oaks. A much better experience for those wanting a true immersion!

“If you enjoy the Derby you'll really enjoy the Museum”
Reviewed November 5, 2012

The museum is full of history about the Kentucky Derby, the pageantry surrounding it, and contains numerous interactive exhibits to learn about it, English riding, the horses, and all the other professions that support horse racing. The grounds tour is enjoyable and so is the movie included with your admission. Both are must-do activities (dress appropriately for walking outdoors during the grounds tour). This is a family-friendly attraction.

Loved this museum. Great movie, lots of information. Lots to see. Nice tour of the grounds. We had a great guide. We didn't take the van tour, maybe next time.
