This was a great place in the beautiful horse country about 20 minutes outside of Lexington. Beautiful trees and greenery. The estate is well kept with a beautiful main house where we stayed in a basic room. All of the furnishings were lovely with a baby grand piano just inside the entryway. Rosalie is very friendly as are the rest of her family and staff. Living room is equipped with a large plasma screen TV and a comfortable seating. Our upstairs bedroom was quite comfortable with a king size bed, modest tv with cable, and a good-sized bathroom with shower. Also there was a covered porch balcony that led to the garden courtyard on the ground level. The only drawback of any of this was the smell of cigarette smoke particularly on the main level, but it was not over powering within our room. We enjoyed our stay very very much. The continental breakfast was good, complete with a fried egg.

If we had one recommendation, it would be to ask about a horse farm tour. This was by far the best experience we had during our stay in Kentucky. Also, ask about the sandwich shop "Wallace Station" which is also out in the country. Amazing sandwiches for a reasonable price. Rosalie gave us directions.

The Swanns Nest in Lexington is such a wonderful place the setting is in the heart of the bluegrass. The gardens are immaculate and the people there are just wonderful. The host Rosalie was very gracious and helpful and Jason was an absolute joy to be around. We took his tour and it was not only insightful but one of the hi-lights of our vacation. We would recommend staying and the Swanns Nest for its true southern hospitality and by all means take Jasons tour you will not be dissapointed.

A wonderful experience for Any traveler. Excellent service from caring owner. I use a wheelchair and could get around fine because it can be accessible to those who can get out of a wheelchair for a short time. Rose is really great.

This hotel is simply fantastic. I was there 5 nights in March and I loved it. The location is excellent. It is in a nice neighborhood and there are only 5 minutes walk from the subway. The breakfast is incredible, with everything very fresh and tasty. Until today I miss the hot Blueberry muffins from which they serve.

The Shanghai'daway room is very quiet, but has no windows. But he is very clean, spacious, the decor is wonderful and great bathroom.

The price is very good because you're about 10 minutes from the Mall and still have breakfast. The service is very attentive and do everything to please you.

Actually it is one of the most charming hotels where I was. I recommend this hotel super charming to all who want to stay in Washington without paying a fortune for it.

Trip was a Christmas present for my fiance to go see Smarty Jones in Lexington. Selected the Swanns Nest based upon their web site & video. We couldn't have been happier with our choice! Rosalie was a very gracious and friendly host and provided alot of insight into the local area & history. Her home is beautiful & elegant without being stuffy. Our room was very nice & comfortable. Slept better than we have in a long time. She really made us feel welcome in her home. By the time we left, we felt like old friends or family. Where else can you get up early in the morning & stroll outside to a fence & see beautiful race horses playing in a field? The location was perfect to go to all of the different attractions in and around Lexington. Highly recommend the Swanns Nest for a great place to stay. We will definately go back.

The setting for Swann's Nest is really very pretty--quiet, countryside with horses grazing in the next pasture. Our room was a "suite" which was large but furnishings are getting "shabby chic"--but was comfortable. I think the rooms are a tad overpriced. Being so near Keeneland was a big plus.

Rosalie was very pleasant and gave us the "insider's view" of the horse business.

We also felt like we were intruding at breakfast, as one other reviewer noted. The fruit, coffee etc. were out, breads were in the next room and the host said "If you want an egg, I can make one up for you" though she didn't really sound motivated. We weren't sure where we should sit. Other rooms in the house looked pretty and we would have liked to explore but the lights were all off so we didn't know if we could use them.

The Swann's Nest at Cygnet Farm is a magnificent place to stay with an excellent service. The sorroundings are gorgeous and very peaceful. I paid $145 a night for a king size bed which is an excellent value. The room and bathroom were very clean. Also the breakfast was great and the owner, Mrs. Rosalie Swann, is a charming lady. She makes you feel like home. Very near to beautiful Keenland racetrack and the most important breeding farms like Calumet Farm, etc.. If you want to mix horse racing with nature, this is the place to stay.
