“A relaxing stay in a lovely setting”
Reviewed July 6, 2013

The grounds and home of this B & B were beautiful, in the middle of horse country. In fact, the inn is part of the Cygnet Horse Farm, with horses on the property. You feel like you're miles from nowhere, but still close to all the Lexington action. It was amazingly quiet and comfortable; we had a terrace overlooking the beautiful gardens below.

The breakfast service was minimal. It was sufficient, but not what is typical of a B & B. Think of it as a B & DIYCB (Do-it-yourself continental breakfast).

If you are a stickler for security you may have a problem. We were not offered a key for our room, and when we inquired were told that they never use them. It didn't matter; the lock on the door to our terrace didn't work anyway.

Looking for a comfortable, lovely, quiet place to stay? This is it. But leave your valuables elsewhere and adjust your breakfast expectations accordingly.

Rosalie and Jason really made our stay comfortable, both materially and personally. The house and grounds are magnificent and they really put us at ease. I knew very little about horses but after Jason's tour now feel like an expert in thoroughbred horse racing and now consider myself a fan of the sport. Keeneland, right next door, is a great place to visit. There was only training going on during our stay but the riders seem to welcome spectators. Many of them said hi to us as they entered. Rosalie is very approachable and knowledgeable about the area. She welcomed us into her home and it kind of felt like we were staying at a relative's house instead of a B and B, comfortable, friendly, and respectful. My son and I enjoyed walking around the grounds, admiring the garden and looking at the horses and scenery. I enjoyed talking with Rosalie about things to do in the area and also about her Kentucky Derby experiences. As far as the comments in other reviews about the smoke smell, I was apprehensive, as I am sensitive to that, but it was not evident. We had a great time with great memories.

Room Tip: I think we were in the smallest room but it was still spacious.

Rosalie has a beautiful home, is assisted by Jason and both of them could not have made our stay more enjoyable. We had just started the bourbon tour and were amazed at how few quality places there are to select from in Lexington. We think it would be easier to find a choice of horse lodging than people!

We wanted to be in a quiet location and this place scored 10/10. Our king bed was comfortable and the suggestion of dinner places were spot on. Midway is a wonderful small village where the railroad goes right down the middle of the street!

The B & B has relaxed feel to it and many extras are included in the price with a self service style that doesn't involve formality. Breakfast is a simple affair, and so much better than the overdose of sugar enthused french toast that some places call breakfast. My only suggestion might be that the bread and English muffin selection whilst large has few non mass market choices. I would hope there are some good local bakers in Lexington?

Jason an implant and horse lover from the frozen north of the US, was a delight to chat with, as he had opinions and was happy to express them, which we found very refreshing. We also agreed with his observations and thus a meeting of minds was accomplished.

Go visit and listen to their advice, and don't taste too much bourbon and drive!

We enjoyed our stay at Swann's Nest B&B which was located very close to Keeneland. After a good nights rest, we attended the races. Rosalie is a very gracious hostess and innkeeper and her staff were very attentive to her guests. Our room overlooked the beautiful garden and pond. It was spacious and very comfortable. As an fellow innkeeper, I would definitely recommend staying there. It was a casual "barefoot" kind of atmosphere.

Room Tip: Loved the garden room.

This was our first stay in Kentucky and we wanted to be surrounded by beautiful rolling hills filled with horses. We were not disappointed by Swann's Nest. Our room was lovely and Rosalie's B and B is gorgeous. Fields and fields of white picket fences and rolling hills. Breakfast was amazing and Rosalie is so helpful and friendly and so is her family. One day we followed the Bourbon Trail which was fascinating. I'm not a bourbon drinker although my husband is but I learned so much on this tour. I loved it! One evening we drove to a neighbouring farm for a dinner and dance in their barn. So much fun! Swann's Nest is beside Keeneland so of course we went there to watch the horses practice. There is so much to do in the surrounding area and Rosalie is so helpful in helping one decide where to go. Highly recommended! I can't wait to return.

Room Tip: Any room at Swann's Nest is great. The rooms in the main house may be a wee bit nicer - hard to...

We recently traveled to Kentucky to head out on the Bourbon Trail and picked Swann's Nest as our home base. It was a wonderful choice! We were warmly welcomed on Thanksgiving Day to a beautiful B&B and made fast friends with the owners. Our room was immaculate, the lounge was wonderful with leather couches and a fireplace, and we enjoyed walks around the property to pet the beautiful thoroughbred horses. We hope to get back to the Lexington Area sometime when the horses are running at Keeneland and, if we do, Swann's Nest will definitely be our preferred place to stay!

Just returned from a trip to the Lexington/Versailes region of Kentucky and had a really great stay at the Swanns Nest B&B in Versailes.

The location next to Keeneland was perfect for touring horse country and the Inn and surrounding area were truly beautiful and exactly as pictured.

The Inn was lovely and in a beautifully landscaped setting that felt welcoming from the minute I arrived. Rosalie Swann was a gracious and personable hostess and yet low key and respectful of my privacy. The rooms in the common areas were beautifully appointed and so comfortable it was almost homelike. My suite was spacious and immaculate with every convenience. The kitchen/dining area was again so comfortable it felt quite like being in a friends home. Breakfast started the day and was delicious with lots of good coffee and fresh seasonal fruit! Good discussions about what to do and see in the area and a good tour of the Cygnet Farm operation located on the property.

Taken as whole I could not have found a better location, inn or group of people to introduce me to the Kentucky Bluegrass.

Highly recommend this Inn to any traveler looking for an authentic visit to horse country. I'll definitely return.
