“Bluegrass near its best”

My husband and I and some friends stayed at the Griffin Gate property during a recent cross-county motorcycle trip, and altho we probably didn't look like their typical guests getting off the bikes after a long, hot day of driving, the staff was friendly and welcoming, even helping us unload our gear and get it to our rooms. The property itself was great - sophisticated but unpretentious in the way people with old money can be sometimes. Our rooms were a touch above average for Marriot Resort chain properties, as were the facilities, and the surrounding area was beautiful and utterly walkable. We ate both in the bar and JW's Steakhouse where the food was great but the service slow and somewhat grumpy - which was a surprise considering the friendliness and efficiency of the rest of the staff. Overall, the Griffin Gate Resort was a joy to visit, and we'll be back next time we're in the area.

Tip: If you want to visit the spa - which I recommend - make reservations well in advance.

Room Tip: We were on the top floor and it was wonderfully quiet despite various functions going on within the...

My husband and I attended a wedding over the July 4th weekend and decided to stay an extra night for a long weekend. As wedding guests, we received a reduced rate for the entire weekend (rather than just the wedding night). The guest relations staff were very helpful, both online and in person, in giving us many ideas for activities on the holiday weekend.

The best part about the hotel is the outdoor pool. It has ample seating, a bar & grille area, and plenty of clean towels. We spent the better part of a hot day out there until a storm chased us inside.

The room was clean, the view enjoyable, and the lobby beautiful without pretense. We look forward to returning to Lexington for another long weekend in the next year or two, and we will be happy to return as guests of Griffin Gate Marriott.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that faces the atrium, so you only have a room on one side of you. One of the long w...

From beginning to end, a completely average experience. My impression is this hotel is bit shopworn. The room was clean, quiet and had a nice desk. But they charged for internet in the rooms but it wasn't working properly. The downstairs bar was filthy, with food and dishes left for hours on nearby tables. the staff were pleasant enough, but the view from our room was sincerely depressing - overlooking the dumpsters and service entrance. Why should anyone have to look at that?

Room Tip: Ask for one with a view!

We ALWAYS stay here when traveling in the area. It is a wonderful place, with superior service, amenities and a great restaurant. Every associate that we have met has been exceptionally friendly and helpful. A plus is that it is also "pet friendly." You will not be disappointed.

This hotel has all the conveniences and special touches that one would want at a hotel of this caliber. First is location, location, location. It is conveniently located just off of I-75, but close to the downtown area (a 12 minute drive and very easy to find). Second, the hotel is beautifully appointed from the lovely rooms to the indoor and outdoor pools to the Spa. The outdoor landscape is just lovely to behold, and the lemon water and sweet tea provided in the lobby were wonderfully refreshing. Third, the concierge lounge provided a great variety of nice food items -- mexican, cheese and crackers, fresh fruit and bread pudding for the evening and eggs, cereal, oatmeal, fresh fruits, fresh juices, pop, and Starbucks coffee for the morning. Go and have a wonderful time!

Three girlfriends and I stayed at the Griffin Gate for one night for a last minute girls getaway. We were very pleased with our stay from start to finish. We arrived early (11:00) and were happy to hear that our room was ready. Check-in staff were very accommodating. We spent the entire day and evening by the pool, ordering drinks and lunch from the Top Deck pool bar - all of which were reasonably priced and delicious. Because it was a beautiful evening, we opted to stay out by the pool through dinner, ordering burgers from the indoor bar, since the pool bar had already closed, and the food was brought to us hot and again, delicious. The hotel grounds were beautiful and the interior very nice. I have stayed at the GG many times over the years, but had not been there for about 5 or 6 years, so I was a little worried that the rooms and public areas might appear dated. But the hotel did not disappoint. Yes, the standard room was a bit small (particularly the bathroom) for four women, but I expected that, being familiar with the hotel. Other than that, I don't think I could think of a negative thing to say about our stay. I would not hesitate to return.
Hint: If you need a mini-fridge, don't hesitate to ask for one. We did not even ask, but I assume the bell staff thought we needed one, given that we had brought drinks and bottled water with us, because when we returned to our room later in the day, there was a mini-fridge there had not been there when we checked-in.

We were there for the weekend. Just spending our anniversary and as always really enjoyed the hotel. When we arrived there was a rollaway in the room but it was promptly removed. The hotel front desk suggested a restaurant that was local and it was amazing. We will definitely return!
