Description: Brasabana features Cuban cuisine that is naturally scented with the flavors of Latin America and the Caribbean (think plantains and slow braised pork). It will draw on the talents of Chef/Owner Miguel Rivas who hails from the Dominican Republic and trained as a culinary artist in New York City before locating to Lexington to be near family. It is a story of today’s global, mobile -- yet local reach -- that defines Brasabana.

“Nice Cuban food experience”
Reviewed August 2, 2014

3 couples +baby. We did some apps, a couple of 'dine around' chicken dinners, sandwiches and a couple of different pork dinners--all very tasty.
Service was great, seated fast, drinks quick and orders taken and delivered very quick. Our server--the 'no name tag' ,(she was in WP) although I will tell that it starts w/E---was great. Excellent .
Food was all good and a few (mainly apps) were pricey but overall a good value.
Will return when back in Lex. ( Hope 'no name tag' is on duty-great server-and she converses)

“Comida Cubana Excelente”
Reviewed August 1, 2014

The problem with Lexington diners is that they prefer boring, chain restaurants where one orders chicken fingers and fries.

Thankfully the rest of us have places like Brasbana. Having had the real deal while visiting Miami, I can attest that this is very authentic. Our party of six visited on a Thursday night during restaurant week and we were not disappointed. We had reservations and were seated promptly. Half of our party opted for the special, the other half ordered off the menu.

We started with the Island Chips (rispy plantain, sweet potato and yuca chips served with guacamole) and Empanadas (Flaky pastry dough stuffed with picadillo beef, served with mushroom ceviche and chipotle aioli). The Island Chips were crisp and perfectly salted. The guacamole was excellent. Some of the best guacamole we've ever had in a restaurant. The empanadas were a bit overcooked BUT the flavor was outstanding.

I had the Havana Nueva (Cuban style slow roasted pork cooked in a garlic citrus marinade served with congris, sweet plantain, fried yuca and avocado salad) which was very flavorful and the pork melted in your mouth. My spouse had the Puerco Brasabana (Pan seared shredded pork, glazed with fresh mojo, peppers and onions, served with sweet plantains over beans and rice). Also very flavorful and tender. Both were decent portions. The sweet plantains were cooked perfectly. One couple split the Shrimp Ceviche (Served in a grilled vegetable and citrus ceviche sauce with avocado and sweet potato chip) and Cuban Sandwich (Roasted pork, ham, pickles, mustard and Swiss cheese. Served with choice of plantain chips, French fries, house salad, soup cup or beans). The sandwich was a nice size with sliced pork and ham. The other couple chose the Peruvian Chicken (Herb marinated grilled chicken breast served with cilantro pesto rice, pepper salad, garlic papaya mojo and sweet plantain) and Havana Nueva. The chicken was a smaller portion than expected but it was just as delicious as the other entrees.

Part of the restaurant week special gave us small samples of the Tres Leches (Classic sponge cake infused in three milks and banana liqueur). The banana liqueur was a perfect compliment to the three milks and sponge cake. It was served cold and a perfect ending to our dinner.

Our waitress, Erica, was amazing. Very attentive with a great personality.

We will definitely return. The decor is beautiful with the artwork. The stone bar is breathtaking and the food is delicious.

“Great food and excellent service”
Reviewed July 27, 2014 via mobile

This is a very inviting place. Great food. The shrimp ceviche was awesome. The pork was braised perfectly and accompanied by delicately fried plantains that perfectly complemented the meat. Dessert was the weak point of the dinner; just felt that an appetizer and entree of such quality shouldn't have been followed by a dish finished with vanilla wafers out of a box. Overall a great meal. We will go back.

“Great place for a little Cuban food!”
Reviewed July 22, 2014 via mobile

For an appetizer we had the Empanadas they were very tasty with a Chipotle cheese sauce and mushroom ceviche.
My entrée was Havana Neuva, tender juicy pulled pork with sweet plantain, fried Yuca, guacamole and dirty rice. Delicious! There was plenty there to fill me up. I will definitely be back.
I had a Mojito which was OK.. I am not sure how they are suppose to taste but my wife liked it, it did have fresh ingredients spices and juices.

We've been here for lunch and dinner. Food was very good at a reasonable price. The island chips with guacamole are a great appetizer. All was very good - highly recommend the Cuban sandwich and Pork Havana Nueva. Very prompt service. We will return- looking forward to trying more menu items.
