“Special spot in Lexington”

We started off with fried crawfish tails. Very good and just right for 3 people. I also had the shrimp remoulade-about 6 medium-large butterflied shrimp. Also very good. My granddaughter is a catfish enthusiast and loved Furlong's fried catfish. We wished hush puppies were on the menu. My daughter had BBQ shrimp served with the shrimp swimming in the butter-lemon sauce in a small black skillet; she was very contented. My son-in-law had shrimp creole. He liked it except he was expecting more of a roux-based sauce. I had the shrimp étouffée-excellent, a beautiful light brown roux. All of our dishes were very generous helpings.
Before the meals were served a basket of yeast rolls topped with honey butter was delivered. Like eating dessert. We all loved those rolls.
I am from Mississippi with connections to southern Louisiana where awesome Cajun food is very easy to find. So I am very pleased that Furlongs is here where I can enjoy that very special
cuisine. It is an oasis for me.
