“Memorable Brunch”
Reviewed September 11, 2012

Located inside a boutique Hotel, Jonathan's is a sophisticated upscale restaurant that is quiet and cozy without being pretentious. We stopped for Sunday brunch and were treated to a diverse menu which satisfied all of our party of six. Each guest ordered from a full menu that was a nice mix of breakfast and diner entrees. Simply put, we all found the food to be fantastic!

“Best restaurant in Lexington.”
Reviewed August 26, 2012

Alwasy get the special, as Jonathan seems to be one of those chefs who gets really inspired by great ingedients. I love the bone-in rib eye!

“Awesome Sunday Brunch”
Reviewed August 6, 2012

We were travelling on Sunday and wanted a nice brunch place. Jonathon's came up in a Google search.
Jonathan's is inside a small botique hotel in downtown Lexington. The restaurant is an elegant and intimate setting. The food was very creative and made from fresh local ingredients. We were pleased with food and service.

“Just selected the wrong thing”
Reviewed August 2, 2012

Our party of eleven were overall pleased with their meals even though the selections were very pricey. My selection of the Fresh Vegetable Plate was just not the best choice. If the veggies were fresh you couldn't taste them for the heavy sauces and spices they were cooked in. My salad was o.k. and the dessert was just o.k. as well. With all this a la carte the total price of $43 plus tip was way out of line. The service was good and the atmosphere was pleasant and I think the rest of the party would have given a moderate to good rating.

“Delicious”
Reviewed July 31, 2012

Wonderful meal. My wife and I went on a recent Thursday evening while visiting Lexington. The salads were excellent – the goat cheese was fresh, lettuce crisp, and dressings flavorful. My wife loved the fried green tomato salad. Shrimp and Grits were a novel interpretation with a tomato rather than a heavy cheese in the grits. The grits had a perfect consistency and shrimp were perfectly cooked. The ice tea brined pork was incredibly juicy. It was served with another unique dish- au gratin potatoes with goat cheese. All the dishes highlighted fresh, local food.

For desert, it was not on the menu, but heard that you can order a trio of ice creams. Very fun – there is the Elvis icecream – peanut butter with bacon pieces. They also were serving a burnt chocolate and mojito ice cream. The burnt chocolate has tremendous potential but was a bit too much like a campfire (smoke overpowering). But the mojito was sublime.

Make sure you ask to see the Bourbon list. It has at least 30 options and they are listed on a long, thin board. I had a bourbon as an after dinner drink.

Service was crisp and informal. Chris was attentive, but unobtrusive. The dining room was rather bland, tan décor. The windows viewed a brick wall.

This was a very good meal, but if you are a foodie and used to high end dinning in bigger cities, you may find some faults (breads were bland, service was not fancy, some misses on side dishes).

Total meal was around $80 for food (three courses), another $30 for drinks (four drinks).
