We had a great meal- the vegetables were fresh and in-season, the service was good, and the prices were very reasonable.

Visiting Lexington from out of town, we selected Ramsey's based on other's reviews. We found the restaurant nearly full, but were seated quickly. We had good and attentive service throughout our visit. However, we found the food leaving something to be desired. The highlight of the meal was the side dish, fresh tomatoes served with cottage cheese. I ordered the southern fried catfish. The outside of the fish was crisp, but somehow, the inside was soft and soggy instead of flaky. The hushpuppies delivered with my meal were raw on the inside. On questioning the interior of the hushpuppies, the manager explained that that's how they are because they are so dense. She offered to make me a fresh serving. The second batch were slightly more cooked, but still underdone. We shared a piece of of the Mayday pie for dessert. It was okay, but not anything to write home about. We wished we had chosen to dine elsewhere.

A rare find where every food item is to die for. A local landmark.

Wait time was less than predicted, although we had to wait some 30 minutes or so for our food on a busy night. Everyone apologized. Free coffee. I think the kitchen 'lost' our order. Later arrivals were served ahead of us.

It was worth it! Portions are large. Locally grown veggies. Good southern cooking. A meat plus three veggies place. Locally made pies. Parmagion crusted fried corn on the cob!! Need I say more?

Ramsey's on Woodland is an excellent establishment that is always like goin' home. The food is delicious, home made and portions are ample. The staff is welcoming, the pies are... well... there are no words to describe the heavenly deliciousness they call "pies!" Ramsey's is always a safe bet... great comfort food when the weather is colder and fresh summer fare when local gardens are growing. Always as safe as going home.
