All of the Malone's locations are superb but the original location on Tates Creek road is still my favorite. Got to try the ribeye, medium rare and their sushi is some of the best I have ever eaten. Highly recommended.

Stopped for the night at the Courtyard in Lexington and this restaurant was only a short walk away. The hotel receptionist told us it was rated the 7th best steakhouse in the U.S. and it certainly lived up to that rating. I had the ribeye and my wife the lobster. She said it was amongst the best she'd ever had and that included lobster she had eaten in the eastern provinces and states. Friendly staff, great salads and good atmosphere. It was pricey but then, you get what you pay for.

Wife, daughter and I arrived on a Sunday night. We were seated right away and bread and drinks arrived in a timely manner. We did not order appetizers as we had already had a lite snack at the hotel. Wife and daughter decided to split a filet, cooked medium, with the Mac and Cheese for the side. I had the filet also, medium rare, with the mushrooms.

When the food arrived wife and daughter's steak was cooked medium rare. We pointed this out and they took it back to the kitchen. They did bring an additional side out for them to share but I had finished my meal by the time it came back out. When it did finally return the bottom of the steak was charred. Not a good Gibson's char (if your from Chicago you'll know what I mean), but charred like chewing on a piece of charcoal. Both the server and manager apologized that it was over cooked, but they still served it anyway. The server even said that's now what we do here, but again he still served it. They did provide us with a free dessert but that does not make up for the ruined $30.00 steak. If you are going to market yourself as a steak place you have to know how to cook the meat. And if you ruin the meat you should remove it from the customers bill. It's not their fault that the steak was cooked wrong.....twice!

There appear to be several other options in Lexington for a steak. I would suggest you give them a try, or give Malone's a try. Maybe you will catch them on a good night, unlike we did.

Having heard Great things we showed up and were informed there was a 35-40 minute wait..70 minutes later after numerous..only 10 more minutes, we get seated, at the same time couples that showed up 20 minutes after we arrived. We were told"We are a little behind." the all you can eat salad was drenched in dressing. The steak had NO flavor, the potato was under cooked. The Blackened Mahi Mahi would have been better without the sauce they put over the fish. This is the 2nd HIGHLY RECOMMENDED RESTURANT we have gone to and let's just say having eaten around the world......won't be going back since it's nothing to write home about. For the price you pay, you would think the food would have more flavor...Outback steaks have better flavor then Malones.
