This restaurant is a must visit. It is elegantly appointed and the food is outstanding. We recommend a reservation. It was nice to see that people still think enough of a restaurant to dress appropriately in suit coats and dresses. If you only have a night or two in Lexington DO NOT MISS THIS RESTAURANT!

Not your typical Italian restaurant. A unique variety of foods. The chopped salad was wonderful. Also enjoyed a special of the day - red fish with lentils. Several diners and everyone complimented their meal. Service was great.

My husband and I go to Lexington every March for a conference and we always manage to plan an evening at Portofino. It is within walking distance of the convention center. We are always pleased with the food and there is always something new on the menu to try! The service is excellent and the owner is always there willing to have a converstion.

We were in town for a UK game, and hadn't made any plans for dinner that night. We had planned on just grabbing a burger somewhere. Last minute we decided to do something a little more interesting than a bar burger. We decided to try Portofino.

We made a last minute reservation (on the late side - 9ish on a Sat night). When we got there, the restaurant had a few large groups left and a couple tables of 4. They sat us at a lovely table for 2 by windows that looked over their patio (that would be awesome in warmer weather). Server was very nice and gave great recommendations.

Started with the soup of the day and a caesar salad - the salad was the crispest, freshest salad I've ever had in a restaurant. My husband had short ribs and I had a beef tenderloin dish. Both were excellent. Wine selections were decent, and the ambiance of the place was wonderful. We were pleasantly surprised by the food - we expected to have just OK food at that hour (usually, we find if you are at a restaurant right before they close, service and quality tends to lack a little), but it was truly wonderful.

Next time we're in town we would definitely return to Portofino!!

Very large Bourbon selection with knowledgeable young lady named Kristen who can help you select a new one to try. The wine list is exceptional but a little overpriced in my opinion. The entrees at my table were the scallops, veal meatball Marsala pasta, filet, and the cheese ravioli. All entrees were cooked perfectly and delicious. Our server was excellent as well so we enjoyed our experience at this restaurant.
