Put this place on your watch list. Better still, stop here and put your watch in your pocket: once you get your mitts on the ribs, you might not stop yourself from licking your fingers all the way up to your wrists.

With grubbin' rub paired with a good selection of sides, Willie's will fill your belly without emptying your wallet.

The sign for this out-of-the-way spot (it's tucked into a tight space that normally would be best fit with a barbershop) gives only a hint that this is where you'll find BBQ and big TV screens. But, once inside there's no mistaking this place for vegan stronghold. The unfinished wooden walls and paper towel rolls tell the whole story: lots of charred meat and malted barley served here.

Caution "quiet" diners: Willie's is loud wherever you sit. But, it's worth every decibel.

I was a little surprised they were out of potatoes. I also wanted the beef ends that were out of stock But what we had was very good. I wouldn't expect truffle fries at a place like this but they were good. the ribs were very tasty. I enjoyed the Thursday PM music.

This place is a small local hangout for Bluegrass bands, and the stage, music, location, and everything else about this place is "funky" but kinda cool. They have some interesting things on their menu (like a pork burger, truffle fries and blueberry wings) which by the way are all pretty good. Not outstanding, but unique and all pretty tasty.
A whiskey barrell infused beer (which is really unique and very good!) but the reason to go, (and I recommend you do) is to hear authentic bluegrass music as the locals play and enjoy. The music starts at 7 PM, so any earlier is a waste of time....

When had read about Willie's Locally Known on tripadvisor. Upon arriving in Kentucky we knew we wanted to eat some good bbq and listen to some good bluegrass music.

We pulled up in the parking lot and were surprised to see a small place. We both had different ideas of what Willie's would look like...this was not what we imagined. The place was much smaller than what we expected. After deciding we would give it a try...we were thrilled we did. The first room was the bar, we went around the corner to where the music was. Darker rustic room, one step up to the stage where the "Derby Brothers" were playing. Great music and the "brothers" were having fun up on stage.

Staff was very friendly. I decided to order their specialty the pork burger, with sweet potato fries, not the usual fried potatoes, probably the best I ever had. The pork burger too was delicious! My husband had a chicken sandwich and he too loved it.

If you are in Lexington, be sure to go. This is authentic bbq and "local" bluegrass music at its best!

Stumbled across this restaurant while shopping around trip advisor for a new place to eat. From the outside looking in I was a big apprehensive, once inside it was cozy and friendly. We arrived around 5:30 on a Sunday evening. (4 adults and 4 kids) The place was almost empty. Service was friendly and attentive. What we had on a scale from 1-5 one the lowest...
Catfish basket kids gave it a 3.5 (they didnt like breading) Pork burger 5 (very distinctive)
Burnt ends 3.5 (some pieces were all fat) Pork BBQ sandwich 5 (excellent with slaw)
Salmon Salad 4 (tasty but small) Sweet potatoes 3 (underdone) Truffle Fries 5 (yummy)
slaw 4 (sweet and crunchy) Prices for entrees are reasonable but the sides are pricy for the portion. We tried an assortment of beers...love they have locals
After filling our tummies and licking our fingers we looked around and noticed the place was full. There were several people standing around waiting for or table. We left just before the Johnny Cash tribute started...
This will be a regular on our Sunday family night restaurant list!!
