Are you looking for a local establishment in Lexington for breakfast/brunch? Give Josie's a try. We were looking for something other than the breakfast food chains and someone told us about this place. We are fairly local but had never heard about it before. Here is what we liked:

Good fresh tasting fare. It was not in the vain of being shipped in frozen, heated and served.
Great service from a well trained server
Eclectic, pleasant atmosphere in Chevy Chase area of Lexington

I will say we had Sunday brunch and had omelets. I can't testify to the lunch menu. But we plan to go back and try lunch on a next trip to Lexington.

We are giving a bouquet of posies today to Josie's! We really enjoyed it!

This place is overpriced for the average food and terrible service you get! The sausage was too salty and everything else is so-so! The coffee outside not hot enough, the eggs---well, it doesn't take a chef to make a sunny side up, but they still screwed it up. The worse part, the lady manager lacks customer service. We came in first, but she completely ignored us and had the guests before us sit ahead. Someone should tell her to be genuine and warm. She couldn't even manage a genuine smile, and not once were we checked in whether we were doing well the entire time we were there. You're better off heading to Bob Evans for the food, service and price you get!

Chevy Chase is just a great neighborhood in Lexington. A friend recommended Josie's for lunch and it was good. Reading the reviews makes me think that brunch, or breakfast may be their forte. I just had a chicken salad sandwich; it was good, the server attentive...This is a nice place if you are in the area. There is a parking lot adjacent, so that is the view from the outdoor seating. A big bonus, if you need a good book, is the Morris Bookshop a couple of doors down. Take a walk and enjoy the old homes in the area...

Very good experience here with good food, good service, and a very surprisingly nice restaurant decor and atmosphere. They have a wide variety of menu items - something to please everyone. Good place!

Looking for something different than the usual chain restaurants for breakfast, we searched the Internet and decided to try Josie’s, a locally-owned restaurant. There are two locations in Lexington and we chose the one in Chevy Chase (downtown), near the Univ. of KY campus.

Being Saturday morning, there was ample parking across the street. There were a few tables outside and a medium-sized very open dining room and counter inside. It was filled with families and a few unruly kids, which made it a little louder than I’d prefer. There was a company of firefighters seated at the counter and couples of various ages were seated at the smaller tables. A good crowd means good food.

The menu offered the usual breakfast items plus local/southern dishes. I generally never pass up the Country Ham when in this area, as it is a flavor of my youth. In the Bluegrass Region of KY, most Country Ham is tenderer and less salty than many other regions of the South. The ham Josie’s served was perfect!

I also had hash browns and an egg. My wife had their grits, which she said were quite good. Everything was well prepared and served hot. Nothing was greasy or too salty - a good meal. Break away from the chain restaurants littering the expressway ramps and try Josie’s.
