La Quinta Inn & Suites Lexington South / Hamburg
Ranked #9 of 71 Hotels in Lexington
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed October 11, 2009

Recently renovated, perhaps with a new addition on the rear. Very functional rolling desk. Beds are not incredibly comfortable; probably more that the beds are standard motel issue while everything else is trending upscale. Indoor pool is nice, if small. Hot tub tasted strongly of salt for some reason. Breakfast bar is standard La Quinta high quality.

Note that although corporate calls this "Lexington South/Hamburg," this motel is actually at the next exit south of Man O War Blvd. at Athens-Boonesboro Rd. Plan on heading up the interstate to MOW if you want dinner/shopping/etc. Nothing much at this exit.

Our family of five needed to come into town on a Friday night for one of us to have an early morning meeting. With young kids, we had an indoor pool as a priority. It was warm enough, pleasant, very clean, and the hot tub was good too. The room was decorated in modern dark brown/tan/yellow tones, with a dark wood tone built-in closet, small desk and office chair. The TV was in good shape and our room even had a large dorm-sized fridge and microwave, both of which worked. Everything in our room was clean, except an odd drip from the shower--every few minutes it drained a small amount of water. (??) It was not loud enough to keep us up at night, and noise from nearby rooms was undetectable. The "continental" breakfast was super, with hot foods (sausage, eggs, pancakes, waffles), etc. and still stocked after 9 am. I would for sure recommend this, as it was a good deal for the amenities if offered, and pleasant.

As stated in an earlier review, this LaQuinta is a remodeled, renovated former Red Roof Inn. We stayed this past weekend for two nights while attending a football game in Lexington. Everything is like new and extremely clean. The staff is pleasant, and very helpful. The rooms have a mini-fridge, microwave, 36' flat screen HDTV, and the bed was very comfortable. The room wasn't quite as spacious as comparable hotels but it was quite adequate for two adults. Probably due to the original Red Roof Inn design.

The only negatives were the walls are a little thin and the closing of doors and conversation on the floor was noticeable, particularly later in the evening. This is unlike most LaQuintas and again, probably due to Red Roof Inn construction. The breakfast buffet was a little on the sparse side, though there was an attendant on the spot to quickly refill.

This hotel is pet-friendly and we had our dog and saw several others with theirs. There's adequate space in the rear to walk dogs without traffic, etc.

It's conveniently located on the south of Lexington with good restaurants and stores within minutes just north on i-75. The entire parking lot is as well-lit as any where we've stayed.

We would highly recommend and will stay there again when in Lexington.

Traveling down I75, my husband and I were looking for a place to stay that was convenient to the freeway and pet friendly (without the $10-$75 extra pet fee that a lot of "pet friendly" places charge). What a pleasant surprise this La Quinta Inn was. We walked in and everything looked brand new. The decor was that of a more upscale contemporary hotel than you normally find on the road. Our room was clean and well appointed.

The complimentary breakfast was better than most. It included a waffle maker that delivered fresh hot waffles, biscuits and gravy, and an assortment of yogurts, breads and cereals.

Upon checkout, I did ask if the hotel had recently been renovated and was told by the morning manager that it was formerly a Red Roof Inn and that the renovations had only been completed about two weeks ago. It was our good fortune to find this newly renovated hotel that is now La Quinta and I only hope that they maintain it so that other travelers can enjoy it as much as we did. For what we paid, our stay was a great value.

There were 3 of us, adults we had 2 bath towels,no hand towels or wash cloths when we got in the room. There was no waste can in the room or bathroom. The pillows were so thin it was terrible. The room smelled of drywall, the dust from it was all over the inside of the door, it needed aired out bad, I sprayed some body spray trying to cover it up alittle. The morning of our checkout there was just lukewarm water in the shower and the TV went out.

while not the Hyatt, the Red Roof Inn is a good, clean motel. The only complaint that I would have is that we were lacking sufficient linens for the length of our stay.

You couldn't pay me enough to stay at this place. Staff was incredibly rude and the place was terrible! Horrible smell!! Ended up going next door to the Days Inn and staying there. Would not recommend this place to anyone!! They don't follow the policies of any other Red Roof Inn and when I asked them about it..their reply was...it doesn't really matter we wont be a part of Red Roof anymore after 3 more months! What a way to conduct business!!
