Great winery out Tates Creek Pike. Lots of History about the home the winery is in. Staff is wonderful. And the wine is the best in KY. No other winery can compare.

“Go for the view of CKY at its best”

This is a beautiful place for a function or an afternoon unfortunately however, their wine has a band-aidy taste.

I went to a wedding here in the fall of 2011. It was beautiful. Plenty of great places for pictures.

“Get there before 5:30!!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 27, 2011

Talon is located a little way out Tates Creek Road, away from the city. We've been here several times and were even wine club members at one point. I really enjoy their rose and sweeter wines...especially the Sweet Evening Breeze. The tasting price is small and the bar is a decent size to accommodate about 10-15 people comfortably. There is also a small gift shop in one of the adjoining rooms, as this is actually located in a house. The vineyard is small but free to walk about and look at the grapes. And there were used wine barrels for sale the day we were there.

A word of caution though....they website says they close at 6 PM but says nothing about the final tasting. They will not do any tastings after 5:30. We hauled it from Equus and got there at 5:30 PM on the dot. She gave us only small thimble sized tastes so that we could determine what bottle we wanted to purchase to drink at the picnic table out back. They don't close the grounds at night so you can stay as long as you'd like, but no tastings after 5:30. It was fine and not enough to make me boycott it, but inconvenient and annoying. I would encourage them to include that caveat on their website.

“Really nice vineyard”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 4, 2011

This is a beautiful place to visit, particularly if you do it on a crisp, clear fall day like we did. There is a self guided walking tour and a very nice tasting room.

I found several wines that I enjoyed and the staff in the tasting room was very helpful. The fee for tasting is $5 for six samples.

When you leave, head south toward Richmond, Ky 2-3 miles to the Ferry accross the Kentucky River (it's free).
