Owner description: Part thoroughbred race course, part sales company and considered one of America's most beautiful tracks, Keeneland is known for its well-designed and meticulous landscaping. The grounds consist of the paddock, a prep area where visitors can view horses up-close just before the race and a combination of dirt and turf race tracks.

Horse racing at it's finest. No other track can compare to the ambiance of Keeneland---a jewel in Kentucky's crown!

The fall colors were amazing. The grounds perfectly maintained. Didn't attend a race, just walked the property on a quiet day. Spectacular

Keeneland Race Course is one of the oldest horse racing venues for Thoroughbreds in the USA. It was establ in 1936 & has seen it's share of many famous 'Runners' throughout its storied history.
The location of Keeneland, across from the regional airport & right down the road from our famous 'castle' in the country is perfect for experiencing the old school vibe of horse racing at its absolute best.
From the grandstand, to the Clubhouse, the Paddock or the Rail~ Keeneland never fails to deliver a unique and exciting day of watching exquisite horses run. On a lucky day, you can cash in a Trifecta or Perfecta and walk away with cash in your pocket as well as a heart filled with memories of an era gone by.
Keeneland runs simply twice per year for live track action. Always the first 30 days in April each year, and again in the Fall for 30 days in October. The sheer beauty alone of this venue will take your breath away. Many folks come early and tailgate in the parking areas, visiting with multiple cars and picnicing all the while people watching.
The Paddock area is a beautiful circular arena where the fastest, most beautiful thoroughbreds from across the globe make their grand pre-race parade for your previewing pleasure.
Keeneland is also famous for it's homemade Kentucky Burgoo- on a chilly Fall day there is nothing more desirable to keep you warm aside from our fabulous Bourbon selections!
For families- the track 'kitchen' is open early so that young ones may eat with the jockeys and watch the trainers take their steeds to the track for warm ups before the throngs fill the stands.
There is nothing more spectacular in Lexington, Ky than experiencing this treasured venue for the first time- it will leaving you wanting nothing but a return visit...and SOON.

Keeneland is a fun day. Watch the horses as they walk them in the display area before races. Get a close up look at some of the best horses in the world. The more money you bring the better time you will have, but I recommend setting a gambling limit for yourself beforehand. Plenty of food and drink. Trollies and shuttles will get you back and forth from downtown and the nicer hotels.
