“Peaceful”

While come cemeteries are creepy and forbidding, this one is truly tranquil and inviting. It's an arboretum as well, so the flowering trees are amazing in the spring as well as beautiful in the fall. Maps and marked roadways prevent your getting lost on a walk, as it's quite large, and the two central ponds with ducks, geese, and fountains also help you keep your bearings. As I say, it's a great place to get in some exercise, but it's hard to stay away from the very interesting markers and inscriptions! Only a mile or so from the historic downtown district and the Mary Todd Lincoln house, I would definitely recommend visitors including this as part of their "walk" through history in Lexington, KY.

“exploration”

I stayed in the van with two of our sleeping children, but the two oldest ones, 7 and 9 got out with Dad and explored, discussing history. They especially were interested in the military stones.

A really wonderful park atmosphere in a cemetery. Not sad or lonesome. Clean, scenic and watch it, the geese will nip you!

“Beautiful place with historic ties”

What an amazing old cemetery. We saw grave markers dating back to the early 1800's. The landscaping is amazing with ancient trees dating back 200 years plus.

“A Special Place”

A very beautiful cemetery. People actually go there just to see the flowers and trees. It is a quiet and dignified place.
