Owner description: The only park of its kind in the world, the Kentucky Horse Park is a working horse farm, educational theme park and equine competition facility dedicated to man's relationship with the horse. Set on more than 1,200 acres in the heart of the Kentucky's famous Bluegrass region, the park is THE place to get close to horses! Featuring dozens of breeds of horse at work and at play, the park showcases the horse in daily equine presentations, horse drawn tours, horseback and pony rides, and an array of horse shows and special events throughout the year. The park's International Museum of the Horse, a Smithsonian Affiliate, is the world's largest equestrian museum. Offering both the experienced horseman and novice an opportunity to explore the many facets of humanity's relationship with the horse, the museum is dedicated to all breeds and disciplines of horse and covers some 50-million years of equine history. State-of-the-art technology complements rare artifacts and scholarly research to present a unique, educational, museum experience for all ages. The American Saddlebred Museum, the Showplace for Saddlebreds, celebrates Kentucky's first native breed of horse. The museum features interactive exhibits and a movie. With the park's own tourist activities and the numerous additional horse shows that take place in the equine competition facilities throughout the year, there can be a fair amount of walking involved, depending on visitor interest level. Comfortable shoes and clothing is recommended, appropriate for Kentucky's seasonal weather. Dogs and other pets are permitted on park grounds, as long as they are on a leash or in an approved carrier, although they may not be permitted in some buildings.

The Kentucky Horse Park features many incredible and beautiful horses, and the scenery is fantastic! If you have grown up with horses- or anywhere in the Bluegrass Region of Kentucky- this place is for you. I thought it was average on account that I'm not as much of a horse fan, but I know there are several people out there who love them that should definitely visit here. The park is very well taken care of, and so are the horses. If you're in Lexington or nearby areas for either nostalgia, peaceful Kentucky scenery, or just plain love horses, you'll like it. Although, I do not recommend coming from far away just for this.

I grew up with horses, my husband did not. Surprised that husband enjoyed more than I did! A beautiful farm/grounds, helpful attendents, beautiful horses and the exhibts were wonderful. I learned things that I didn't know about the horse. Great for all ages. Don't miss it!

If you love horses you will love the horse park. I have only been during Breyerfest, but the park is beautiful and the horses are all very well taken care of.

Don't miss the museum of the horse or the Saddlebred museum. Both have great exhibits tbat shouldn't be missed.

The shows are great. You don't want to miss the Hall of Champions.

Food can be pricey, but most parks are this way and you can always bring your own lunch.

Took my daughter to Breyerfest at the park. We had a great time! The park is AMAZING. Everyone is very accommodating and goes the extra mile to show you the little things! You can bring food into the park and if you need to purchase there, it is very reasonably priced. The grounds are gorgeous. This is a must see for everyone!

Kentucky blue grass with white wooden fences -- an idyllic setting. You get "up close and personal" with the horses and you might just be watching the next Kentucky Derby winner in training.
