Recommended length of visit: More than 3 hours
Owner description: The only park of its kind in the world, the Kentucky Horse Park is a working horse farm, educational theme park and equine competition facility dedicated to man's relationship with the horse. Set on more than 1,200 acres in the heart of the Kentucky's famous Bluegrass region, the park is THE place to get close to horses! Featuring dozens of breeds of horse at work and at play, the park showcases the horse in daily equine presentations, horse drawn tours, horseback and pony rides, and an array of horse shows and special events throughout the year. The park's International Museum of the Horse, a Smithsonian Affiliate, is the world's largest equestrian museum. Offering both the experienced horseman and novice an opportunity to explore the many facets of humanity's relationship with the horse, the museum is dedicated to all breeds and disciplines of horse and covers some 50-million years of equine history. State-of-the-art technology complements rare artifacts and scholarly research to present a unique, educational, museum experience for all ages. The American Saddlebred Museum, the Showplace for Saddlebreds, celebrates Kentucky's first native breed of horse. The museum features interactive exhibits and a movie. With the park's own tourist activities and the numerous additional horse shows that take place in the equine competition facilities throughout the year, there can be a fair amount of walking involved, depending on visitor interest level. Comfortable shoes and clothing is recommended, appropriate for Kentucky's seasonal weather. Dogs and other pets are permitted on park grounds, as long as they are on a leash or in an approved carrier, although they may not be permitted in some buildings.

The guide was fabulous only out done by the fabulous horses. We got to pet many of the mares and foals as we were in the middle of foal season fortunately. Stallions are for looking and not touching! The guide was extremely knowledgeable a wonderful half day I would do it all over again.

“One of the Most Beautiful Places in Kentucky!”
Reviewed June 11, 2013

If you are anywhere near Central Kentucky (just about an hour and a half from Cincinnati, OH or Louisville, KY - adjacent to I-75 and I-64), I highly recommend a visit to the Kentucky Horse Park. I have lived in Kentucky all of my life and have seen most of the state, but this is by far one of the most beautiful places in Kentucky. While here, you will be entertained by horse shows (including past Kentucky Derby champions). You can walk through barns to see many other horses as well as the equipment of horses (saddles, horse shoes, etc.). You can also take your time strolling the beautiful grounds of the Kentucky Horse Park and see these beautiful animals in their natural environment - grazing in the fields. If you enjoy horses, this is definitely a place to visit!

“great time for family”
Reviewed June 9, 2013

Visited with my family of 4. my girls love horses, but i don't so i had resigned myself to a ho-hum day. i was pleasantly surpirsed at the variety of things to do and how up close and personal the exhibits and animals are. this place is an interesting combination of tourists like me sitting next to horse owners, breeders and trainers. it was a unique experience for us that made lots of great memories.

“Man O' War memorial”
Reviewed June 5, 2013

Our visit to the Horse Park (we are horse lovers and owners) was very memorable. It's a living museum (so to speak). You can visit the Man O' War memorial (grave) and come up close and personal with living legends. They show off all major equine breeds. A must see for Horse Lovers.
