Owner description: The only park of its kind in the world, the Kentucky Horse Park is a working horse farm, educational theme park and equine competition facility dedicated to man's relationship with the horse. Set on more than 1,200 acres in the heart of the Kentucky's famous Bluegrass region, the park is THE place to get close to horses! Featuring dozens of breeds of horse at work and at play, the park showcases the horse in daily equine presentations, horse drawn tours, horseback and pony rides, and an array of horse shows and special events throughout the year. The park's International Museum of the Horse, a Smithsonian Affiliate, is the world's largest equestrian museum. Offering both the experienced horseman and novice an opportunity to explore the many facets of humanity's relationship with the horse, the museum is dedicated to all breeds and disciplines of horse and covers some 50-million years of equine history. State-of-the-art technology complements rare artifacts and scholarly research to present a unique, educational, museum experience for all ages. The American Saddlebred Museum, the Showplace for Saddlebreds, celebrates Kentucky's first native breed of horse. The museum features interactive exhibits and a movie. With the park's own tourist activities and the numerous additional horse shows that take place in the equine competition facilities throughout the year, there can be a fair amount of walking involved, depending on visitor interest level. Comfortable shoes and clothing is recommended, appropriate for Kentucky's seasonal weather. Dogs and other pets are permitted on park grounds, as long as they are on a leash or in an approved carrier, although they may not be permitted in some buildings.

“Horse LOVERS Dream!!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 4, 2012

If you love horses, you'll love the horse park! What an amazing place! I was there for the Rolex Eventing - a first class run event! The facilities and grounds are spectacular! Since I was busy watching the Rolex and on a tight time frame, I didn't have time to visit the museum on grounds so I would like to return to see that. The horse showing facilities from the stabling to the indoor areanas to the outdoor footing will make any horse lover dream with envy. A wonderful facility!!!

“Wonderful Family Environment!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 4, 2012

We bring our 10 year old granddaughter here quite often. Of course her favorite part of the day is when she gets to ride the horses, which you want to sign up and pay less for when paying for admission to the Park. There is a lot of walking involved, but so many horse related things to see. It's a great time for kids and adults who love horses!

While we have not yet stayed at the campground, it looks like a great place to stay.

“Well Worth it!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 2, 2012

This park is so beautiful. The grounds are beautiful. The Parade of Champions was my favorite. There is a host that tells you about the wins, then you see a video of the horse's wins, then they bring the beautiful horse out to pose; later, after the show you can pet them. Fabulous. We also went to the Horses of the World; great show. There are several champions buried here, most notible (for me) was Man O War and War Admiral. The International Horse Museum was interesting. We did not take a carriage ride or do the horseback riding, but those options are available. Plan to spend the day if you go!

“Can't wait to come back again and do more!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 29, 2012 via mobile

We were here for the 3day rolex event, along with over 18,000 other people. It is an exceptional facility. Stadium, grounds are all beautiful. Plenty of bathrooms, port-a-johns, beverage snack areas were plentiful. There was a nice food area, but not big enough for this event, nor seating to eat after purchases, but that was the event not the park. Great place, want to come back to do more!
