This place is one of my favorite cheap and quick eats in Lexington. My wife and I love the pizza and salads. Plus the sheet music bread is great with a little bit of olive oil and vinegar. The order at the counter and wait for your food is a good setup for eating quickly. It doesn't take long to bake a pizza at 900 degrees, but if it's crowded, it takes no more than 10 minutes to get your food once you've ordered.

Authentic Neopolitan (Naples style) pizza is very different from normal style you find at chains here. The dough is light and airy, and the pizza is "wet", as in the sauce is mixed with a few tablespoons of olive oil. All of the toppings to choose from are great, especially the roasted garlic. If you can handle a little bit of spice, always go fo the smashed sauce. It's a great compliment to most of their toppings. Also, always go with fresh mozzarella as the cheese. It doesn't cover the whole pizza (they're squares cheese, about the size of a silver dollar), but it's much better and lighter tasting than the mozzarella/provalone mix. It's not surpising to learn that this place is owned and run by the same people that own Bella Notte, another great place to eat nearby.

The atmosphere is nice and casual. The service is prompt, and the food is a great value. I could definately eat a normal size pizza by myself, but getting a pizza and a small cesar salad is a great thing to split between 2 people for around $15. It's one of the few shining spots in an otherwise bland restaurant selection in the Nicholasville Road area.

Stayed in Lexington Green and was decided to visit because of the name. Pizza was very good and their new addition to the menu, calzone was also good. While eating dinner we watched a travel film showing famous places in Italy. The people next to us were from Naples and we enjoyed talking with them during our meal.

have a degree in hotel and restaurnt management and have worked and ran restaurants for many years, always believed that the secret to a good restaurant was to have fewer items on menu, but to make sure the ones you have are always excellent. Smashing Tomato has done this to a T, The pizza is best i have had consistenly and their artichoke dip is great, they did try a artichoke and spinach dip for a while which was ok but not as good, thankfully they have gone back to original dip and it is great. My wife and i usually share a pizza and artichoke dip, without drinks it usually runs about $15 which is $7.50 a person for an exceptional meal at about fast food prices. If they did franchises i would want to own one.

I love Smashing Tomato. They have fresh pizza cooked in their "wood-fired" oven and use the traditional method of cooking pizza. The service is pretty nice, it is fast and it always tastes good. They have salads, wines, pasta, artichoke dip, soups, bread.
