“Not bad at all!”
Reviewed August 7, 2013 via mobile

The lobby is clean updated with two computers near front desk. The breakfast area is small, but can make your own waffles. The lobby to me didn't smell like smoke. Now, the hallways to the room I was overpowered with smoke smell. The room was nice. Seemed updated, didnt smell musty or like smoke. Staff was courteous. Stop by a local gas station to get a hotel coupon magazine and get the room for less than $60.

This place needs a make over, matter of fact i'd recommend that they tear it down and start from scratch... Where to start?

Went to La Grange for a family reunion, and this was one of the places recommended by the host family, primarily for the location and price. I didn't realize it allowed smokers, I honestly didn't think there were any hotels left that you can still smoke in (naive, i guess). As soon as you walk in you are immediately HIT by the smoke smell and it's strong, even at the front desk. Check was easy and quick.

Get to my room, which was on the second floor and the smell of old stale smoke was OMG bad! The sheets were so old that they were yellow stained (i couldn't even attempt to lay on them). The towels were bare thinned, the toilet was brown stained so bad, that I thought someone did a #2 and forgot to flush it. Good thing it shared a parking lot with Walmart, because before I could even unpack, I rushed over to get sterilizing products, lysol, wipes, towels and a sheet to cover the bed so i could sleep.

One positive note is they did have a free breakfast (although I didn't partake) others were enjoying it and I noticed they did have the make your own waffle.

All in all, if it weren't for the location and price I never would have stayed here and if I were to go back, I probably wouldn't again.

Room Tip: Although it might not help, request a non-smokers room.

Horrible smoke smell everywhere! The sheets and everything in this room smelled like someone had chain smoked there for days. The hallway the smoke smell was so overwhelming my allergies immediately kicked in. If you are a smoker you will love this hotel because they obviously let you smoke anywhere!

If you are savvy enough to obtain a coupon book from the rest areas, this hotel becomes the bargain of the century. The rooms are exquisite and large, as the recent renovation has made this place a lot classier than most Best Westerns I have visited.

The breakfast offered in the lobby was fresh, delicious, and plentiful. Waffles, eggs, biscuits, gravy, cereal, muffins, bread, and coffee were offered with all the fixings. My only gripe is that the breakfast eating area is separated from the food, so you have to cross the main hallway back and forth between plate fill-ups.

I slept very well at this hotel, and that is something I normally don't do when I am away from home. Service at the desk was efficient and accommodating.

For around $50-$60 this hotel is a great alternative to more expensive places offering fewer amenities.

Room Tip: Try to get a first-floor room, as the elevator is slow

Booked 2 rooms for 3 nights at this motel for my family. Staff was very friendly and motel looked very clean. When we walked into our adjoining rooms the was an awful smell. The rooms were very clean but the smell was awful. Reported this to the front deck and was told the would look into it. We left to returned late that night to the awful smell so again I reported it to the front deck and was told she was sorry. They would move us but it was completely full, but would make sure something was done the next morning. I ask again the next morning to make sure something would be done and was told again they were looking into it. The manager stop by before we left and told my son that it was the ice machine and they would take care of it. When we returned late that night the smell was even worse. Report it again that night and twice on Sat. and again when I checked out on Sun. Was told they would be a discount on the room rate. When I got home and check the reservation rate the was no discount. If the smell was not there this would be a very nice motel. Sorry, I would not recommend this hotel. We were stuck because no other rooms available in the area (NASCAR weekend)..

Room Tip: This would be a very nice motel if the rooms did not smell so awful. Rooms 124 & 126

On a resent trip thru Kentucky we spent the night at the Ashbury Best Western.
We have a special needs child . The manager Dee Milburn went out of his way to accommodate our family.
Clean hotel and great staff.
Nice breakfast bar also.

Tripadvisor says this motel ranks the highest, so I really can't imagine what lower ranked motels would be like. We checked in on June 12th for one night. The pool was closed until further notice, but that was not mentioned at check in. The room was reasonably clean (except for the mold on the ceiling and above the tub/shower in the bathroom. The furnishings seemed to be relatively new in the room. The room was reasonably priced and had a microwave and mini fridge. The linens were fresh, but the bed was not very comfortable. There was no security on the outside doors (and from speaking to the people at the desk, that did not seem temporary - basically anyone can walk in the exterior doors without a keycard). Many of the people staying at the motel seemed to be day contract laborers, so some mud was on the floor in the hallways and smokers congregated by the exit doors. Breakfast was okay - cold and hot options. Television channels are limited, but we had no problem with the wireless internet. The motel is conveniently located to everything and not far off the interstate. Downtown La Grange is interesting with a good restaurant and some nice shops. There are plenty of dining options very close by to this motel, as well as a Walmart and Walgreens. I would like to stop in La Grange again if there were better motel options.
